I wonder what harp calus (or however you spell it) looks like. I play the cello, so it's the tip of my fingers and base of my thumb, but my brother plays guitar, and it's a whole new ballgame.

Typically, French ...
Typically, French harpists are more easy-going and accepting of other people's technique... Salzedo players are quite elitist. Just kidding... sorta.

what's up with the french grandjany technique? as far as I know , either technique teaches harpists to be harpists. although my teacher does not like salzedo, now that i think of it. prejudice??? ;)

Be that as it may, ...
Be that as it may, I think it's a matter of taste. I actually used Salzedo's Seguidilla as my college audition and actually regret not getting his transcription of The Maid with the Flaxen Hair, but I'm just not a fan of his, especially his notation (the way he puts in harmonics can be a tad frustrating). But when I said classical, I meant in the idea of the harp, not the song itself, because when people do think of harpists it's like the Grandjany or Hasselmans pieces, not the Salzedos.
