I discovered later that the $3500 guitar was severely damaged. They didnt deny the experience occurred but for nine months the various people I communicated with put the responsibility for dealing with the damage on everyone other than themselves and finally said they would do nothing to compensate me for my loss. So I promised the last person to finally say no to compensation (Ms. Irlweg) that I would write and produce three songs about my experience with United Airlines and make videos for each to be viewed online by anyone in the world. United forced me to check my carry on bag at the gate because I was in "Group 8" - the last to board and the plane was full - overbooked, in fact. Someone dropped something very heavy on the carry bag and smashed the computer screen of the brand new Toshiba I had just purchased for a small not-for-profit organization in a small village in southern Belize. United's response? "We don't cover electronics." Never again, United.

I have loved this ...
I have loved this song since it first was released and never commented now I shall. UNited did not break my guitar it only lost my cat and left it on a hot tarmac in LA instead of Las Vegas in the summer for 14 hours. My compensation... nothing. Sadly too say the cat whom was 7 dies 3 weeks later. Thanks UNITED.

Having said that, I would guess that statistically, UAL probably ranks well amongst other carriers in damage complaints (percentage-wise anyway) as we are the largest airline in the world. Please do not hesitate to fly us again, as I'm sure the profits from this clever song and video should buy you many guitars. If you come through DC, I promise to treat ALL of your property with care, and I mean that. I will admit, though, that many people have NO CLUE how to properly pack their valuables..

Coming from a UAL ramp serviceman, I will personaly apologize for that happenning to you. I, someone who really does "give a sh!#", about customers, can admit that there are people working out there who are lazy, careless, and basically worthless for the company. Unfortunately, many of them have been doing the same thing for many years, and have no desire to progress their careers. 20+ dollars @ hour and constant overtime is all they require to sustain.......I guess.........their boring lives.

United removed my ...
United removed my Bach tenor trombone from its case and dropped it on its bell a few years back on a trip from RI to CA. The lady at baggage claim told me that they don't cover damages to the contents of luggage just the luggage by itself (meaning the case). Because there was no damage to my case they refused to cover the cost of repair to get the bell rolled out and repaired ($100 out of pocket). The trombone works now but doesn't sound the same as it did. Never again United. Boycotted for life
