Later on the album ...
Later on the album after the track we are not alone nas is talking about how all races of people can be niggers-blinded to what's really going on. These are his own words. This album isn't a "hate whitey" album, its obvious he is talking about America's history of oppression of minorities...not to say that he doesn't have an emphasis on black minorities. You have to think deep. Not everything is black and white (pun intended)

@erfbgu Well first ...
@erfbgu Well first of all I don't think you know what Nas was saying either, we can only suppose. Therefor I think we're both entitled to our own opinion until Nas comes to say it himself. But It's fair to say that Nas has a grudge against white people. I would too. But things have changed.
PatTheRiot

@PatTheRiot But its ...
@PatTheRiot But its obvious your mind is already made up.
erfbgu

@PatTheRiot Was ...
@PatTheRiot Was just correcting you because the statement you made about intellectuals isn't what Nas was saying. And there is no contradiction. Nas obviously isn't talking about all white people, but rich white men in power. And historically atleast with the music ind royalties and proper credit has been an issue with record cos. and black artists (seems nas was referrong to that) I never took a stance on the issue, just correcting what you said because it misrepresents what Nas was saying.

@erfbgu It's 2012, ...
@erfbgu It's 2012, Black people are all over all sorts of industries, in colleges. There is even a black president. What in hell are you expecting more? That "white people" lay down a red carpet for you all the way up to the bank? In 2012 most racism comes from black, latinos and asians. They are the ones who remain secluded and hold grudges against whites. Im not saying there isn't white racists, but in general, a majority of white people simply don't give a fuck about all this bullshit.
PatTheRiot

@erfbgu I love the ...
@erfbgu I love the contradiction in your last sentence. "white is not to be noted, its the white power structure". Besides, I'm pretty damn sure black people are all over the music entertainement industry and that now it is white people who are having a hard time in it. This type of rhetoric is what's keeping racism alive. I support Morgan freeman when he says to erase racism, you need to stop talking about it. I'm not saying rappers like 2pac and NAS weren't right in the 90's. But its 2012 now.
PatTheRiot

@PatTheRiot "What ...
@PatTheRiot "What because you start a fashion or dance you should be allowed in the hall of fame of intellectuals"? I think its clear that he wasn't saying this. He is talking about being undercompensated for the artistic contributions to pop culture that black/urban culture brings to it. Hence; he says residuals; as in residual income. And the "they" he is speaking about; the fact that they're white is not to be noted;its the white power structure by way of the music/ent industry he implies.

@PatTheRiot Within ...
@PatTheRiot Within the NASA lyric is where is criticized blacks as a whole for that exact thing you are saying. He's saying the race is too busy trying to make dances or fashions instead of focusing on intellectual advancements and achievements. After that when he refers "they", he means "they" think we dont have the potential to do things like be in NASA, when blacks are more than able. You misunderstood the message of it lol
VINCEJisSONiCtheMC

@VINCEJisSONiCtheMC ...
@VINCEJisSONiCtheMC Actually I think you're the one missing my point, After the NASA lyric he follows by blaming "they" (most likely white people) looking past us. "Who brings you the latest dances, trend and fashion". Well maybe if "you" would put more work into your brains other than materialistic appearances you'd have more "niggas" in the NASA. lol. What because you start a fashion or dance you should be allowed in the hall of fame of intellectuals? really? lol.
PatTheRiot

@PatTheRiot That's ...
@PatTheRiot That's exactly what Nas is saying son lol. You missed the whole point lol

Just throwing it ...
Just throwing it out there but, maybe if black people we're less into fashion and spending all thier money on sneakers instead of investing in their kids and their education, they'd be more "niggas" in the NASA. lol. Just sayin' Nas boy.
