Nathan Winograd - Director of the No Kill Advocacy Center

Watch Nathan Winograd's appearance on Rescue Roundtable. We are a nation of animal lovers. But the shelters we expect to provide dogs and cats a second chance are instead killing five million of them. And for far too long, we have been told that the killing is exclusively the public's fault. That shelters --through no fault of their own--are merely performing the public's dirty work--with skill, compassion, and dedication. Nothing could be further from the truth. I LOVE Nathan!! I used to be in favor of killing feral cats, and had the AUDACITY of calling myself a cat lover. Now I really understand how feral cats fit into the ecosystem and how we can manage them without killing them. Thank you Nathan!!!

Nope - not only is he IN FAVOR of finding homes for handicapped animals, he is an advocate for keeping them alive and finding homes for them.

He's had great success in adopting out handicapped animals. I have not heard or read of him saying that everyone should have a pet.

It's not true.

Nathan Winograd does not advocate "maintaining animals that pose a public danger." The vast majority of animals in shelters don't.

I've read Nathans book Redemption and I applaud him for all he does for these animals. Bravo.

Thank goodness for this man and his book -- hopefully people will abandon this 'defeatest' attitude when it comes to stray animals, and stop taking the 'easy' way out that is euthanasia. THERE IS A BETTER WAY. These animals do not have to die. Anyone who cares about animal welfare should read his book!

Nathan Winograd applies good old fashioned common sense - something that the majority of the human race has lost when it comes to caring for our animal friends ! Thumbs up to Nathan - :) !

Read his book and then see how sure you are. We need to work for change, not simply condemn ones are are doing it the wrong way.

We need more people like Nathan and less people like dezbean. I think dezbean needs to buy a copy oof redemption & read the entire book. Next you should try to visit one of the shelters Nathan has helped. As for the Michael Vick dogs that you said were going to have a life of solitary confinement, you are sadly mistaken on that one. National Geographic is at Best friends right now filming the dogs progress for the new show Dogtown. Maybe you should visit Best Friends and see for yourself.
