Wars are not "happening" - they are made. And one thing I´m really afraid of - that Obama might be the next one. Hope it will not come like that!

According to an album cover story written by Kristofferson, he wrote this song in his hotel room right after he had seen the movie,'Gandhi'. Bob Dylan asked Kris for permission to record the song it for Knocked Out Loaded. Kris said he was honored that Dylan liked his song enough to use it. Although I love both versions, I am partial to Dylan's rendering.

Hey , the important thing is that he is an incredible songwriter . Learned this song from Dylan on the "Knocked Out Loaded" cd if I remember correctly . Almost anyone with a good voice can sing a song . To write a masterpiece thats true art . One of the best ever in that reguard .

KK was never "a raging drunk" - that's a ludicrous comment. He did do some teaching at West Point but it was very far removed from what his father was doing.

Ah you're right alcoatari, my mistake.

Not a huge deal... Most Krtistofferson songs are more well known from other artists. I.E.: Me and Bobby McGee, Janis Joplin and others Help me make it Through the Night, Elvis Presley Sunday Morning Coming Down, Johnny Cash. All Kristoffrson originals made famous by others. The latter Kristofferson delivered to Johnny Cash after landing a helicopter on his front lawn, or so the legend goes.

Everything Kris does is impressive. He went to West Point, Actor, Singer Song Writer, Rhodes scholar, plus he has the ability to connect into other people's emotions. Not many people can add up to his level. I have always had great respect for him.

He didn't attend West Point, rather he taught there mainly because his father was a general. Also, back when he was a raging drunk, he was a complete A-hole, even to his fans. I too respect him, just wanted to offer more perspective.
