As an amateur musician if I turned up at a practice and played this the other guys would think it fun and might even be impressed. If you are a professional musician concerned with cultural authenticity and accuracy of rhythmical style, why are you bothering with videos posted for free on youtube?

@SAHBfan Are you kidding? The pattern in the hands is a completely different groove based on a style of music from a completely different continent than the Samba. As a professional musician, if I showed up to a Latin gig and played this as a Samba, I would get laughed at, then I would likely be fired. (Or at the very least not hired again, which is almost as bad.) This guy, professing to be a teacher, should really know better.

I know this video has failed to get an approval rating from the Youtube Samba police, the armchair experts drum tuition committee and the comment thread video approval regulators (self appointed)... but I couldn't give a shit whether it is an authentic Brazillian pattern or not - it sounds bloody good to me and is a cool lesson.
