Personal preference ...
Personal preference is the way it should be. Telling someone what's too much or too little is for a dictatorship. I've been playing for many years and am content with four strings. I have fiddled a bit with five and six strings over the years but four is what I personally prefer. Stuff like this is cool to hear in my opinion and the more strings the better for it. Again though, whatever floats your boat.

The point is if you love to play after a while 4 string is boring. I played 4 strings for about 5 years then 5 strings for about 10 years. Now I play a 7 string and can't make up my mind if I like the high f or low f# more. Don't have money for a custom 8 string right now but Id buy one if I did.
