Kaoru Sakurazuka is a normal Japanese youth, not unique in the least except for his oddly feminine facial features, which he hates. His name doesn't thrill him either -- Kaoru is a common name for both girls and boys. He tries to make up for looking like a girl by becoming extra strong, and no one in the school can beat him in a fight. He enjoys his time living in a cheap apartment with his friends Touya and Renji. lolwut? Kashimashi is totally different. While "girl meets girl" is cute, it doesn't even dare to go as far in exploring the gender bender aspect as old shows like Ranma does. "Girl meets girl" is a total cop out because the only male interested in the one time boy is just treated as a joke. Meanwhile the boy recently turned girl shows absolutely NO problem with being a girl but acts as if everything is normal... The gender bender aspect was totally pointless in this series.
