yea i know wat ur sayin, with the 500 it takes 2 months minimum to break in the pads, either that or replace them with the softer pads from mpcstuff dot com. It would be better in the short term if it just came straight out the box with softer pads, closser to the sensors. n yea the 500 has no sound of its own, its very bland, personly i bit crush a lot of my samps b4 puttin them in the 500. theres no doubt that the 2000 is the better machine by far, but the 500 is good for its portability.

the 500 n 2000 hav simalar features yes the 500 has 12levels(only 12 kuz only 12 pads) the 500 can not chop via the slider/fader tho n the 500n hasa lot less outs (1real out n a phones out) the 2000/2000xl is the better machine but the 500 is very portable and battery powered + u can drag n drop samples from pc to the 500 via usb sum people hate on the 500 kuz its the baby of the mpc family n hence has the least street cred, but i rock 1 n it does everything i need it to.
