The Quiet American - Vietnam
14 August 2001 The Quiet American, Graham Greene's prophetic novel is being turned into a big budget Hollywood movie. It provides an insight into Greene's analysis of pre-Vietnam international politics. Greene believed the bombings of Saigon Square in 1952 were the result of early US interference, as they tried in the early fifties to find a 3rd Force to take over from the French colonialists and fight the Communists.

After watching this I feel I miss Vietnam very much. I spent three weeks in Vietnam, I traveled from Sapa all the way to the Mekong Delta . I also had a glass of vino in the Continental Hotel in Saigon. The hotel is a little worn but still I felt the history of the place. We also visited the room were Graham Greene supposedly stayed.I was in my 20s when the war was in full swing, it brought back so many memories that my wife couldn't relate to. Vietnam is a very special place. I will return.
