"FOR REAL" AMEL LARRIEUX

A 9-year veteran of the indie R&B circuit, Amel Larrieux stretches her vocal wings on the stellar, yet painfully overlooked "Bravebird." Serving as her solo sophomore set, the New York-based singer/songwriter has crafted a disc that mixes midtempo melodies with beautiful and lush lyrics. Lead single "For Real," written by Larrieux and her husband Laru Larrieux, opens with a serene piano solo that is accented by the voice of a young baby cooing. If you lean more toward the mature side of the R&B spectrum, and/or appreciate such artists like Anita Baker, Sade and Goapele, then Amel Larrieux's 2nd solo album "Brave Bird" should appeal to you. This mid-tempo track defies categorization by combining soft R&B with organic jazz and genuine soulfulness.

lovely song from a lovely underrated artist. She is what we call a real artist, and artist who does not make the same album over and over, and i see these Mariah Carey Fans, u guys are blind fans, I mean Does Mariah even sing live? High notes mean nothing, and you kats got to listen to real artist like Rachell Farell who on Mariah's best day would be destroyed. as any serious person in the business. I mean didn't Aretha already do that to Mariah Love this song and Ameril what a gift

Simply fantastic! I love Amel's singing and her songwriting abilities. This particular song is my favourite from the album this song was taken from. I'm not going to get into the argument regarding "who is better", all I know is that I love her music and that she is severely underrated. Thanks for posting.

i agree, she definately surpasses Mariah with flying colors!!!! Amel is ALWAYS being herself in her music which makes her genuine. Mariah is always switch up her style to please the music world image.

In this sense we are talking about vocal range and Mariah can go higher. As far as who you personally "like better", well that's all up to you and subjective.

YES surpass mariah. can't u hear her high notes in this song??? come on now, the only reason why amel isnt as popular as her is because she been out longer and she does more popular music. amel is just neo soul. not complaining, i love both of them.
captainbryce1 napisał :
Yeah, but Mariah (and quite a few other artists) have hit way higher notes than that before. Amel is good but she doesn't go nearly higher than Mariah!

are u serious??? go listen to emotions by mariah carey. she hit her highest notes in that song. now listen to this song again. truely amel hits WAY higher notes than mariah. but it doesnt matter cuz georgia brown can hit the highest notes any human can AND she's a singer too. go look her up on here and you'll see the truth.

Sorry but something is wrong with your hearing dude because this girl didn't even get into the 7th octave. I can hit every note in this song! Mariah's highest recorded note is actually in the song All In Your Mind, an F7 which was way higher than this. She hit's an E7 in Emotions and a G#7 by accident in a live performance of Emotions in 91. Rachelle Ferrell constantly hits E7's and Betty Wright hits an F7 live. Adam Lopez can get into the 8th octave C#8 and Georgia Brown can hit a G-10.
