I was in my early teens at the time and I can remember being fixated to the screen even then - It was and still is today the most amazing set and even though I love Torvill and Dean's interpretations on dancing on ice, nothing can compare to 1984!!

I was out of Britain when this happened and so I watched an American coverage. The commentators were speculating who was going to come second. So I watched expecting a mere gold medal for the UK what I got was sensational. I had a tear in my eye at the end. I'm so proud to come from Nottingham. The new Ice Centre has a square in it called Bolero Square.

This is just incredible: to get 6's from Soviet block countries in the 1980's was almost unbelievable. Just shows how perfect Jane and Chris were; not even the supercritical Soviet judges could find any fault with this. This is a great show of fair judging, and is worth of respect. They were the greatest ice-dancers ever, and will always be.

The said they never got together because it would ruin their proffessional partnership, and if their off-ice relationship collapsed, so would their on-ice one. But in the John Henassy book, it says "We fell in love, and then back out again," so we can still specualte =P
