I kno what you mean. My friend is tellin people that bass is better all the time. Hes allowed to say it though, cuz hes really good. He can do this kind of stuff, plus the progressive metal that he plays with his band. and Im personally trying to get going as a bass player. bassists will almost always have jobs, because everyone wants to be the guy out front on guitar. I would rather play bass, because I think it would be more of a challenge.

What kicks ass is that Jaco's the only string instrument up there, but he makes himself sound like a trumpet or a clarinet.

Just amazing! There's where all the simultaneous phrasing of Dream Theater began!

Try Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Billy Sheehan, Geddy Lee, and if you are into really heavy prog Dan Briggs of Between the Buried and Me.

Is that Bob Mintzer on the bass clarinet?

Why should everybody want to do what Jaco did? There are brilliant bass players today as well.

hell yes

Completely agreed. No bass player today comes close to what Jaco can do.

I wish there were more bass players in the world right now like Jaco. Nowadays no one wants to get stuck playing bass in a band, but if they heard how Jaco plays they hopefully would want to learn how to play.
