No, they're not. Competitively priced would mean a $100-$200 difference as opposed to the nearest technological rival, instead of $1000 more. ASUS G74 and Origin EON17-series laptops prove, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that Apple is price-gouging on obscenely underpowered hardware.

And for all the Windows haters: you srsly need to get some skills in understanding technology and hardware: Saying windows supports only 1920*1080 is very dumb. It's generally a problem with a lot of apple fan boys, they have no Idea what they are talking about, just try to use the words they find in the technology tab on the apple website. Don't take this too general! Like I said, I use a MBA too

Mac and Windows are ...
Mac and Windows are so different. Mac is a good stand-alone system, esp. for users who use their computers for mail, office, web browsing etc.. Apple made computers more user friendly and brought design into the world of technology. However, PCs are more for people who like technology, who like to build and understand hardware, who like perfomance and customazation and who prefer function over design. Personally I use a Windows Desktop for gaming and graphic design and a MBA for the couch ;)
