I think the video said it best when one of the speakers said that a body of academic peers make sure that nothing is published that would threaten the ideas necessary to maintain a society of slaves.

I found it. Thanks. For others who might be interested and are reading this comments page go to the US Senate website and search "In Defense of the American System" click on the first entry which is a bunch of numbered pages without a title -- that will take you directly to the text. Haven't read it all yet, but it looks pretty remarkable. It runs more than 100 pages.
