MSN 1012 is the worlds oldest operating L-1011 and the first Tristar to be converted to pure freighter. The crew faced many obstacles to ready this 36 year old aircraft after a storage period of more than 2 years! AirUtopia brings you a rare glimpse into the operations of the L-1011 seldom seen before. Because of a very weak APU, numerous engine starts were attempted and most resulted in "hung" starts, except for this one. After this engine (number 1) was started, they were then able to crossbleed to the other 2 engines which were then able to start normally. This start was almost a hung start as well, creating extra smoke, but then the engine does start to pick up RPM and is able to complete its start cycle. Any L10 lover will enjoy seeing this sight and hearing the sounds once again....Enjoy!!!

For memory upgrade purposes, note that it is slightly different than the Mini 1012 in that there is no (removable) memory access door under the keyboard to access the memory slot - you need to take off the palm rest to access it! Also, please be sure to know what Dell Mini 10 series netbook you have prior to following this video as there are currently 4 different ones. * Dell Mini 10 (1010) which is easily identifiable as it is the only one that has a HDMI port. This is the only Dell Mini 10 series that cannot have it's memory upgraded. * Dell Mini 10v 1011 -- similar look (body style) to the Mini 10 except that it has a different atom processor (n270, n280) and has VGA instead of HDMI. * Dell Mini 10v 1012 -- has a new hinge design compared to the Mini 1011/1010 and the bottom half is all white, no longer has the huge extended battery that sticks out below the netbook, and has a refresh in specs (atom N450+ processor) * Dell Mini 10v 1018 -- the latest iteration, the one in this video, that is basically the same look as the 1012 but with an all black bottom, a few less ports, upgrade to ddr3 memory, and FINALLY a touchpad with dedicated buttons! Air Crash Investigation - Fatal Distraction / Who's At The Controls (S05E09)
Eastern Air Lines Flight 401 was a Lockheed L-1011 Tristar 1 jet that crashed into the Florida Everglades on the night of December 29, 1972, causing 101 fatalities (77 initial crash survivors, two died shortly afterward). The crash was a result of the flight crew's failure to recognize a deactivation of the autopilot during their attempt to troubleshoot a malfunction of the landing gear position indicator system. It is believed that fatigue and poor crew resource management (CRM) contributed to the accident. As a result, the flight gradually lost altitude while the flight crew was preoccupied and eventually crashed. It was the first crash of a wide-body aircraft and, at the time, the deadliest in the United States. After the crash, Flight 401 was also known for reported paranormal activities, supposedly stemming from the salvage of aircraft parts; Eastern Airlines later removed the Flight 401 parts. The effects of this crash on the airline industry continue today and resulted in the development of Crew (or Cockpit) Resource Management (CRM), a technique that requires air crews to divide the work in the cockpit amongst available crew ensuring that someone continues focusing on flying the plane while troubleshooting continues. United Airlines Flight 232 is one of the most well known examples of effective CRM.
