The manuscript has been inherited by the present owners in 1976 from the dissolved Forestieri-Steiner fund and constitutes an additional hand-written source of 18th century French harpsichord music. The book includes copies of well known music collections of early 18th century, namely by François Couperin, Jean-Phlippe Rameau, Jean-Baptiste Forqueray, Louis-Claude Daquin, Louis Marchand and other minor composers active in Paris around 1740, such as de Bury and Royer. The manuscript includes a series of nineteen pieces not known from other sources or registered in public or private accessible archives and collections. These nineteen compositions are split in two different collections contained in the manuscript, which are at the center of the present recording: the "Livre de Suittes pour le clavecin composè par Monsieur de Charman(t) cordelier, et arrangè par Renard, à Paris, 1754" and the "Recueil des Airs différentes pour le clavessin composèes par plusieurs auteurs, collectées par P. Ich bin zwar kein "echter" Dampflokfan, und ich weiß auch, das die Qualität (1983) sicherlich nicht berauschend ist, aber vielleicht ist das Video ja für den einen oder anderen noch sehenswert. Immer noch besser, als wenn es auf einer DVD langsam vor sich hingammelt.

Il divertimento n. 1 in Re maggiore K 136 (K6 125a) venne composto da Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart a Salisburgo nei primi mesi del 1772 insieme ai divertimenti K 137 e K 138 nel periodo tra il secondo e terzo viaggio in Italia. L'opera non è di così facile collocazione in quanto si attiene allo spirito del divertimento ma non alla sua forma; è costituito di fatto solo di tre movimenti con il secondo lento. Non si tratta neppure di un quartetto perché, sebbene sia scritto per quattro strumenti, manca del caratteristico linguaggio cameristico. Il compositore a soli sedici anni propone in definitiva una sua scuola e un suo modello scrivendo di fatto musica sinfonica attraverso l'assemblaggio di alcuni strumenti (mancano ad esempio corni ed oboi per essere assimilato alla sinfonia italiana). Il primo movimento (allegro), che richiede impegno virtuosistico agli esecutori, ha un impianto ritmico travolgente senza difettare di luminose melodie. L'andante è più riflessivo ma la melodia continua a mantenere la luminosità che aveva nel primo tempo. Il terzo tempo (presto) si apre in sordina per rieccheggiare i temi gà esposti nei primi due movimenti ma elaborati questa volta in chiave contrappuntistica.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834) Born October 21, 1772 in Devon, England, Samuel Taylor Coleridge was the third of three children born of his father's second wife. His father, a vicar, had had ten children with his first wife. He died when Coleridge was eight. Coleridge attended the charity school Christ's Hospital and then Jesus College, Cambridge. But enlisted in a British Calvary unit in 1793, a decision possibly influenced by turbulence in his life at this time of financial or romantic nature. Ill suited for the military, his brothers helped him be discharged for insanity. (1) At Jesus College Coleridge befriended another Lake poet Robert Southley. Together they planed to found an egalitarian community they called Pantisocracy in either Pennsylvania or Wales. However, they could not agree on a location and the project was abandoned. The first written reference about the town Stará Ľubovňa (Old Ľubovňa) comes from the year 1292. After the castle Ľubovňa was built, the village changed into a settlement around the castle and significantly gained on importance. The year 1364 was crucial for the development of the town. At that time the king Ľudovít I. gave to the town a privilege to be a royal town, together with a privilege to organise regular open-markets. The further development was essentially influenced by the fact that between 1412--1772 it was given to the Polish king as a deposit for a credit. The town became a well known economic and a cultural centre. After 1772 the town lost is exceptional position, officials and aristocracy left it. Stará Ľubovňa remained just a small centre of the nearby surroundings. St. Mikuláš (Nicholas) church originating from the era about 1280 and the Provincial Houses are the most dominant monuments of the square. The latter is the former seat of the janitor of the pawned towns from the region Spiš. In 1639, it was reconstructed in the Renaissance style. Inside of the St. Mikuláš church there is a stone late-gothic baptistery coming from the 16th century and sepulchral steles from sand stone and red marble. A baroque altar of St. Mikuláš, bishop from the 19th century, is decorated by a nice woodcut. In the middle of the columnar architecture dominates a precious painting of St. Mikuláš from the 19th century. Side altars and sculpture of Weeping for Christ are very <b>...</b>

An einem kühlen Sonntag Morgen ( 0°C) um 8 uhr, extra früh aufgestanden, hab ich die Gelegenheit gehabt, die Glocke, die nur Sonntag morgens oder Weihnachten, sowie anderen höheren Feiertagen alleine läutet, in der Glockenstube aufzunehmen. JAMES WOOD TEACHES FRANKFURT "HOW FICTION WORKS": On March 2nd, Literary critic, author and Harvard Professor James Wood introduced his book "How Fiction Works" as part of the "Transatlantic Wednesday" series at Frankfurt's Holzhausenschlösschen to an audience of over a hundred. The book will be published in German in June. Moderated by Hans-Jürgen Balmes of the S. Fischer publishing house, Wood then engaged fellow literary critic Gregor Dotzauer of DER TAGESSPIEGEL as well as the audience in a discussion on a broad range of literary topics. He also sat down for a one-on-one video interview with PA Frankfurt, which will be published on the consulate's Youtube channel soon. James Wood is now spending a year in Germany after being awarded the Berlin Prize Fellowship from the American Academy in Berlin.
