Lullaby - MPC 2000XL, Yamaha TX81Z, Roland D-20, Boss DR-202
My wife and I are expecting, so I made a lullaby for my baby girl. I just got a Roland D-20 at the pawn shop for 60 bucks. Found my DR-202 out in the shed and had to add some "Lately Bass" on the TX81Z. I recorded the track separately and synced it up with the video. I wanted to test out the Roland and get used to the DR-202 so I went with a mult-layered 2 bar loop. It's simple, but I liked the results. This is my first video in a long time. I've watched a lot of people making tracks and uploading their "live" sets, so I did it myself. My other gear, unused on this track, consists of: MicroKorg, Akai XR20, Yamaha DX7, Akai S2000, Akai S3000XL, Akai CD3000, Ensoniq Mirage, Ensoniq ASR-10 Rackmount, Yamaha CS1x, Korg EA-1, and some other randomness. You see me start from square one. I sample the drums and chop them. I make a drum pattern. I then look for a sample and put it into the MPC. Went for a Spanish gypsy style with this one. Drums are played by the Akai XR20 and the Boss DR-202. The Roland D-20 is playing most of the other instruments with the exception of the Yamaha TX81z playing a bass. The MPC is used solely as a sequencer to track all the midi. Having fun with my new gear, and I got more!! The editing is a little sloppy but I'm trying to get used to Final Cut Pro. Got some new equipment to try out so I will post a video of a new song with my new gear (Akai Z8, Roland MKS-30, and an Ensoniq EPS-M).
