Honda has released the first exclusive photos of the new Civic. The images show the new clean, dynamic and flowing exterior design and high quality interior. The designers of the new Civic wanted to keep the sporty and advanced elements of the car's character but tailor them to communicate the new model's more dynamic feel. Sources of inspiration included a 'blended wing body' aeroplane in which the fuselage and wings blend into a single body for superior aerodynamic performance. Nearly all of the body components on the new Civic have been redesigned with particular focus on ride and handling, reduced CO2 emissions, design and interior quality, while retaining the class-leading cabin, boot space and practicality. Designed and developed specifically for the European market, the new Civic will be offered as a five-door hatchback and will reach UK showrooms in early 2012. The new Honda Civic will be launched today at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA).

Honda has released new information about the 2012 Civic (Euro-spec). Designed for maximum efficiency, the car has an aerodynamic shape with a lower front fascia, streamlined mirrors and drag-optimized taillights. Compared to the previous model, the car is 10mm wider and 20mm lower. This gives the vehicle an aggressive stance which can be augmented by 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin is outfitted with 'soft touch' plastics, a redesigned steering wheel and a touchscreen infotainment system. Other highlights include Bluetooth connectivity, additional sound deadening material and a boot that holds 401 liters (14.2 cubic feet) of luggage. Under the hood, three engines are available. The 1.4-liter i-VTEC produces 100 PS (73 kW / 98 hp) and 127 Nm (94 lb-ft) of torque. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 13.4 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 187 km/h (116 mph). While it won't win any races, the car averages 5.4 L/100km (52.3 mpg imp) with CO2 emissions of 129 g/km. For added performance, the 1.8-liter i-VTEC develops 142 PS (104 kW / 139 hp) and 174 Nm (128 lb-ft) of torque. It allows the car to run from 0-100 km/h in 9.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 215 km/h (134 mph). In terms of efficiency, owners can expect to average 5.8 L/100km (48.7 mpg imp) with CO2 emissions of 137 g/km. Lastly, the 2.2-liter i-DTEC diesel has 150 PS (110 kW / 148 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. With this engine, the dash to 100 km/h takes 8.5 seconds and the top speed is 217 <b>...</b>

The all-new 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas (formerly known as the Civic GX), the only dedicated natural gas-powered passenger vehicle manufactured and sold in the US, will go on sale at qualified Honda dealerships nationwide on October 18 with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) starting at $26155. A modified 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine found in the Civic Sedan and Coupe models powers the new Civic Natural Gas. A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard equipment. The Civic Natural Gas has an EPA-rated city/highway/combined fuel economy of 27/38/31 miles per gallon (gasoline-gallon equivalent). Compared to the previous model, city fuel economy is up by 12.5 percent and highway fuel economy is improved by 5.5 percent. The Honda civic has long been the best-selling model for Honda for some time. If the Honda civic were its own brand, it would rank as the 12th largest in the world. The 1973 Honda Civic was envisioned to be a car to meet everyone's needs and the all-new 2012 civic continues to deliver that vision in ways that no previous model has done before. To this end, Honda focused on three key areas when designing this 9th generation. These include style, fuel economy and performance. Combining these elements is not an easy task, but Honda seems to have pulled it off. Honda has officially unveiled the 2012 Honda Civic at the New York Auto Show. Looking virtually identical to outgoing model, the redesigned Civic emits a strong sense of déjà vu. Despite the similarities, the car is outfitted with new bumpers, a revised grille, and restyled taillights. Inside, the sameness continues as the interior looks like a carryover from the previous generation. However, there's a new steering wheel, a revised instrument cluster and an updated dashboard. Under the hood, four different engines will be available. The mainstream model is outfitted with a 1.8-liter petrol engine that produces 140 hp (104 kW / 142 PS) and 128 lb-ft (173 Nm) of torque. The Civic Hybrid has a 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol engine and a small electric motor that is powered by a lithium-ion battery. Producing a combined output of 110 hp (82 kW / 112 PS) and 127 lb-ft (172 Nm) of torque, the car has an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 44 mpg city / 44 mpg highway. On the other hand, the Civic Si uses a 2.4-liter engine with 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS) and 170 lb-ft (230 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a new six-speed manual transmission, which enables the Si to return 22 mpg city / 31 mpg highway. Lastly, there's also a 1.8-liter natural gas engine that develops 110 hp (82 kW / 112 PS) and 106 lb-ft (144 Nm) of torque. Arriving at dealerships later today, the 2012 Civic will be priced from $15605 to $26750.

Honda will launch the new Civic at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Developed specifically for the European market, the Civic will be offered exclusively as a five-door hatchback and will compete in the C-segment. It will reach European showrooms in early 2012. The ride and handling of the new Honda Civic has been developed in Europe. Working closely with European colleagues and external experts, the Japanese development team analysed the current Civic's performance. This led to a focus on improving the ride quality of the new Civic, while retaining the sporty handling of the current model. Honda's engineers were conscious that European roads are some of the most varied in the world, mixing fast highways with poorly surfaced country lanes. Initial testing was carried out at the Research and Development facilities in Japan, before the development team transferred to Europe to finalise the car.

Honda unveiled the all-new 2012 Honda Civic Si to the world at the 2011 New York International Auto Show. More powerful than the 2.0-liter engine in the previous generation Civic Si, the new 2.4-liter engine produces 201 horsepower @ 7000 rpm and 170 lb-ft. torque @ 4300 rpm, an improvement of 4 horsepower and 31 lb-ft. of torque compared to the previous model. A sport-oriented six-speed manual transmission sends power to a helical-type limited-slip differential (LSD). The LSD helps the Civic Si accelerate powerfully and confidently when exiting corners as both wheels can deliver more equal torque distribution to the road compared to a conventional open-type differential. Exclusive Civic Si exterior features include 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/45R17 tires (summer tires available on the coupe), a body-color deck lid spoiler with an LED center brake light, fog lights and a chrome exhaust finisher. Inside is an exclusive aluminum shift knob with leather, textured aluminum pedals and firmly bolstered perforated cloth sport seats with suede-like trim and red stitching. The steering wheel is leather-trimmed with red stitching. The new "intelligent" Multi-Information Display (i-MID) on the Civic Si includes an exclusive Power Monitor (as one of its screens) that can indicate the percentage of total horsepower generated by the engine.
