Nissan has announced the 2012 GT-R will be priced from $89950 when it goes on sale in United States early next year. As we have previously reported, the facelifted model features a new front bumper, a revised rear fascia, and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels. Inside, the cabin has been outfitted with higher quality materials and carbon fiber trim. Power is provided by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine which produces 530 hp (395 kW / 537 PS) and 488 lb-ft (661 Nm) of torque. The company declined to release additional performance specifications, but expect to learn more in the coming months. Besides the standard GT-R, Nissan announced plans to offer a $95100 Black Edition. Details are limited, but it features unique six-spoke wheels and a special red / black interior with Recaro seats and a dark headliner. According to Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager of Nissan North America, "The Nissan GT-R continues to be a multi-dimensional performance machine that lives up to the concept of the ultimate supercar that can be driven by anyone, anytime, anywhere. The exterior features more strength and stability, while the traditional creative flair associated with the GT-R's striking appearance has also been updated, to offer improved aerodynamics. Nissan has unveiled the 2012 GT-R. The previous GT-R produced 530 PS (520 hp / 390 kW) and some record times on the Nurburgring, but Nissan wasn't satisfied with that and has increased output to 550 PS (405 kW / 542 hp). Also new on the 2012 GT-R is an asymmetrical suspension set-up for right-hand drive models which compensates for greater weight on the driver's side of the vehicle. Performance is also improved by means of added rigidity in the body for better handling and a smoother transmission. A new "For TRACK PACK" variant will also be available (currently already an option in Japan and the UK) which drops some weight on the GT-R by means of eliminating the rear bench to make for a real track performer. Despite the added power, fuel-economy has been reduced to 11.8 liters/100 km from the previous 12. The 2012 Nissan GT-R goes on sale in Japan November 24 and hits dealer showrooms in Europe in January.

Despite the added power, fuel efficiency improves to 8.5km/L (20 mpg US). For better maneuverability, the all-wheel drive system can be deactivated when vehicle is traveling less than 10 km/h (6 mph) and the steering wheel is turned more than halfway. More importantly, new sturt bars have been installed (in the engine compartment and under the dashboard) to increase chassis rigidity and responsiveness. On top of this, the front suspension has been outfitted with revised springs, aluminum free-piston shock absorbers and a new stabilizer bar. Out back, the rear suspension has a modified roll center height which improves tire grip during cornering. Quietly introduced at the Paris Motor Show, the updated model features a new front bumper (with double rectifier fins and LED daytime driving lights), a revised rear fascia (with an improved diffuser), and Hyper Blue Black Chrome wheels with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 DSST CTT tires. Thanks to these tweaks, the drag coefficient drops to 0.26 while downforce is improved by approximately 10%. Inside, changes are relatively minor but include a revised dashboard, carbon fiber trim, chrome-plated accents, and new seats. Under the hood, engineers made a number of improvements to enable the twin-turbo V6 to produce 530 PS (390 kW / 523 bhp) and 612 Nm (451 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 38 PS (28 kW / 38 bhp) and 23 Nm (17 lb-ft). Despite the added power, fuel efficiency improves to 8.5km/L (20 mpg US). For better maneuverability, the all-wheel drive system can be deactivated when vehicle is traveling less than 10 km/h (6 mph) and the steering wheel is turned more than halfway. More importantly, new sturt bars have been installed (in the engine compartment and under the dashboard) to increase chassis rigidity and responsiveness. On top of this, the front suspension has been outfitted with revised springs, aluminum free-piston shock absorbers and a new stabilizer bar. Out back, the rear suspension has a modified roll center height which improves tire grip during cornering.
