Shooting groups at 200 and 300 yards with a .223 Bushmaster Varminter AR15. Target cam also setup for picture-in-picture (PIP) effect. This cartridge has the potential to be VERY accurate for a factory round....I just needed a better benchrest for these shots, in particular at 300 yards. Nonetheless, you'll get an idea as to potential accuracy. Also popped some water jugs at end of the video; slow-motion included. What more can you ask for....AR15, long distance shooting, steel targets, water jugs, HD, picture in picture, slow-motion, etc. Viewable in 1920 x 1080 HD if you have the bandwidth. With the HD, you can clearly see the bullet trail on the 300 yard shots. This was a technically difficult video to put together, considering the use of two cameras at times (my first attempt at this), and the editing. The shot sequences are as well-merged as I can get down to 1/100th of a second. Obviously, at greater distances, there is a delay on the target confirmation, and rifle report from the target camera. This is not something new they stated this warning more than 25 years ago, and it still stands. I know there are those out there that will claim that they have fired 5.56 in their 223 all the time with no problem, but it's a risk I'm not willing to take. Evaluation of the Hornady TAP 75 grain load for .223 Remington. Includes shooting groups on steel at a laser-measured 100 and 200 yards (showing scope perspective at 200), and water jug test at 100 yards. Platform is the AR15 Bushmaster Varminter with 24" barrel. Chronographed velocity from this rifle was 2780 fps, slightly lower than Hornady's published velocity (2790 fps and test barrel length not revealed)....but impressive for this bullet weight/caliber combination. Although it really isn't marketed as such, this load would probably perform well on coyotes and other large varmints. This is definitely one of my favorite "heavier" loads for .223 Remington.

First-person SCOPE CAM shooting at steel plates in the vicinity of 180 yards. SKIP FORWARD TO 4:00 TO SEE THE SHOOTING PORTION. No actual hunting in the video, this is just target practice and my first attempt at this camera mount. Camcorder is mounted to the A2 stock of my AR15 Bushmaster Varminter, viewing through a Leupold Mark III scope, set to full 14x for the shooting segment. I use this setup for coyote hunting. If you don't understand what coyotes can do to a farmer's livestock, take a moment to search for videos that show the damage. I've seen firsthand what they can do to young calves. Cattle are worth thousands of dollars of revenue and put food on the table for a family. You might appreciate that removing coyotes insures the farmer can maintain healthy livestock and manage his family business. I hunt coyotes at the request of a landowner who has a coyote problem on a huge tract of land. Due to declining health, he can't do this himself. This video seems to draws more than it's fair share of detractors, which is amazing. Coyote hunting is legal, and in Tennessee the state department of wildlife encourages it. There is no daily limit in Tennessee and the season is open 365 days a year. Educated animal biologists understand the problem. Part 2: www.youtube.com This video shows in chronological order all the steps needed to prepare .223 rifle brass to be reloaded. The cases are tumble cleaned, resized and de-primed, the resizing lubrication is removed, any military primer pocket crimps are removed by swaging, the cases are trimmed to length, the case necks are de-burred and chamfered inside and out, and a new primer is installed into the primer pocket. After this point, the cases are ready for powder, bullet seating and bullet crimping, which are not shown in this video. Multiple methods are demonstrated for trimming and chamfering, and the advantages of full synthetic motor oil as case lubricant for the resizing process is demonstrated. This case preparation process is essentially the same for almost any rifle brass.

400 yards target shooting with the AR15 Bushmaster Varminter, .223. In spite of breezy conditions and a slight elevation change, some success in making hits on an 8" x 16" steel target. During the video, you can actually see the bullet flight to the target. In retrospect, I would probably adjust my scope 1 click up and to the right for this setup and weather conditions. That adjustment should bring the majority of the group into where my crosshairs were aligned, as my misses went low and left. Nonetheless, the 75 grain Privi Partizan .223 cartridge is definitely worthy for long-range target shooting, and possibly varmint hunting due to it's open-tip design. Its the second night for hunting with HogChaser85, We've killed 2 hogs so far and as the sun goes down, several pocket pigs, several sows and a boar come wandering in. There are branches in the way of shooting these feral hogs so we watch them for about 6 minutes before shooting. I drop one with a head shot, Chase's rifle miss fires, I shoot a second one on the run and drop her, then we both shoot again and miss. We had our Destroyer Hog Lights ready but these wild pigs came in while it was still fairly light. We took a bit getting down there so it was dark by then. Check out the Hog Hunting Action Y'all! I am going to test four different types of two different manufacturers' .223 Russian ammo in my POF P-415 upper. I will test the following ammo: Wolf 55 grain FMJ, Silver Bear Silver Bear .223 62grn HP Wolf Military Classic .223 55grn FMJ Brown Bear .223 55grn FMJ I plan on firing 40 rounds of each. Much like wine tasting, I want to make sure that my upper has a "clean pallet" for each flavor of ammo. I want to know what steps I can take between firing each type of ammo to insure a "fresh start", and be able to accurately note/judge each type of ammo. What I'm trying to see is which type of ammo will feed reliably in this POF upper. I had several stuck cases using Tula 62 grain HP. Thanks!

Part 1: www.youtube.com This video shows in chronological order all the steps needed to prepare .223 rifle brass to be reloaded. The cases are tumble cleaned, resized and de-primed, the resizing lubrication is removed, any military primer pocket crimps are removed by swaging, the cases are trimmed to length, the case necks are de-burred and chamfered inside and out, and a new primer is installed into the primer pocket. After this point, the cases are ready for powder, bullet seating and bullet crimping, which are not shown in this video. Multiple methods are demonstrated for trimming and chamfering, and the advantages of full synthetic motor oil as case lubricant for the resizing process is demonstrated. This case preparation process is essentially the same for almost any rifle brass.
