iBook G3, 300mhz booting Debian with LXDE
Here I am showing my 300mhz iBook "Clamshell" booting and using Debian Linux using the LXDE Desktop-Environment. Installation was easy as 1,2,3! Installed Debian without any desktop. Then from command line I installed xorg, gdm, LXDE, iceape, and synaptic. Is it fast? Nope.. Is it usable.. kinda.
Quenching a 300MHz NMR Magnet
This 7.05 Tesla Superconducting Magnet was in service for over 20 years, but had to be decommissioned to make way for a new Instrument. This magnet is a Varian "R2D2" magnet, and was quenched by blowing warm helium into the magnet cryostat. We normally do everything possible to avoid a "Hard Quench" like this, but this magnet is never going to be used again so... enjoy!

Ich zeige euch mal einen PC von meinen PCs. Daten: Chaintech 6ESA2 Mainboard Intel Celeron 300 MHz (ohne L2 Cache!) 128MB SD RAM 66MHz 6.4GB HDD DVD/CD-RW Combo-LW Ich habe diesen PC vor einem halben Jahr im Sperrmüll gefunden, aber habe gedacht, dass er nicht mehr funktioniert. Zu Hause angeschlossen, angeschaltet und funktioniert! Windows ME mit ein paar Programmen und Word Dokumenten (sogar die Rechnung von diesem Computer war noch drauf), aber es war langsam und einige Programme haben nicht mehr funktioniert. Also habe ich eine Neuinstallation gemacht und Win98 SE installiert. Jo, er läuft ziemlich schnell für einen 300MHz PC.

The Tech Drawer: Apple iBook Review
The latest addition to my collection. The iBook was released in 1999 and came with a 300MHz PowerPC G3 processor and 32MB of RAM. Mine has been upgraded to 288MB of RAM and I also plan to upgrade the hard drive at some point from 3.2GB to 40GB.
