The Z-car believers have come to see the car in its first public showing, and Randy Rodriguez is one of them. Rodriguez has come a long way to be here. Raised in British Columbia, his family ran a small gas station and car repair business and came to specialize in Nissans. His first car was a Nissan 240Z that he rebuilt with his own hands, and he's owned 10 early Zs over the years, though he's still only 31. As with all Z-car people, Rodriguez doesn't quite fit in the box where you find most car enthusiasts; he's a little out of the mainstream, a little more open to doing things differently, and a little more serious about cars in way that only someone who has had to bring old, second-hand beaters back to life can be. Rodriguez is exactly the person for whom this new Z-car is meant. Probably there's some kind of magic at work in the fact that Randy Rodriguez's day job is at Nissan Design America, and he was the one who first sketched the lines of what has become the 2009 Nissan 370Z.

Willow Springs International Raceway is known for its staggeringly high lap speeds, and it defines itself with one of the gnarliest, high-speed corner combinations anywhere in the world: a long decreasing-radius bend from Turn 8 to Turn 9. And so in an effort to preserve the world's population of auto scribes like us, Nissan has created a makeshift chicane to successfully emasculate these corners during our test of the 2009 Nissan Nismo 370Z. Smart move. Fortunately there are ample opportunities elsewhere on this track to explore the car's increased performance over the standard 2009 Nissan 370Z. Namely Turn 6, which apexes at a blind crest and is followed on the downhill side by a huge midcorner bump that makes the standard Z-car wallow like a Buick LeSabre over a Wyoming frost heave. It's here that the Nismo Z sells itself. In the Sport Z-car we're afraid. Afraid of physics. Afraid that the track will toss us — like a Buick — into the unforgiving desert. But after a few laps in the Nismo Z, we're confident. And we're faster. We keep our right foot planted all the way over the Turn 6 crest and across the bump, gaining enough speed that a few hundred yards down the track we ingloriously annihilate most of the orange cones that Nissan deployed to keep us alive. So before we embarked on our Great Arkansas Adventure, the guys from Xpel offered to wrap our rides in their Paint Protection Film. We whole heartedly agreed since this meant we wouldn't be worrying about the inevitable rock chips and bug splatters that accompany any high speed run thought the mountains. We couldn't believe how good this stuff really was though. Completely invisible and super easy to remove. Not only that it made clean up a snap for the 370z, the Corvette however... that took a bit to scrub off the legions of dead insects. FYI: If you hit enough lightening bugs with the vette's windshield, you will be blinded by a phosphorescent green glow, and no your windshield wipers will not help. For year the Z has been one of the most beloved affordable sports cars both here in the United States and in Japan as well. The 2012 Nissan 370Z is considered the Mustang of Japan since the drive train configuration, price, and body style is similar to that of many American muscle cars. The 2012 Nissan 370Z has a base price of $31910 with the top of the line Touring Roadster costing over $44000. The 2012 Nissan 370Z is powered by one of the best engines every produced by Nissan. The VQ37VHR is a 3.7 liter V-6 engine with Variable Valve Timing that produces 332 horsepower and 270 lb-ft. of torque. A 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmission puts the power down to the rear wheels. The 2012 Nissan 370Z can achieve up to 19 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway. The 370Z is considered to be the little brother of the mighty Nissan GT-R. It is smaller, costs less, and does not have as much power. This is an insane 370Z twin turbo putting out 886 RWHP - or about 1036 BHP - on recent dyno runs - and apparently there's some headroom for more! It's called 'Project White Dragon' and this was filmed at SEMA 2011 in Vegas. A big thanks to the friendly guy who was willing to fire her up for the camera. Best of luck on your build!
