Ferrari is showing off the 562 horsepower car with improvements to fuel consumption and CO2 emissions that, they say, sets "the benchmark in this segment." Using a mid-rear mounted 4.5-liter V8 engine, the 458 goes from 0-100 km/h in under 3.4 seconds on its way to a top speed of 325 km/h. The driver controls the engine with the Getrag F1 transmission, a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It has a 407 hp to tonne power-to-weight ratio, with a dry weight of about 1380 kg.

Slovenian tuner Akrapovic Exhaust Systems Technology has a new sound for the Ferrari 458 Italia and they want you to hear it. In this video you can see the Ferrari 458 Italia out for a little sprint in the fresh air with its distinct triple-piped, center-mounted exhaust. This time, though, it's fitted with a new system from exhaust specialists Akrapovic and true Ferrari connoisseurs can try to spot the differences in the sound. The new sport exhaust system helps the 458 Italia achieve an increase of 11 PS (8 kW) and 26 Nm of torque (19 lb-ft) over the standard exhaust all the while subtracting 14 kg from the curb-weight of the 458 due to its titanium make up. Akropovic specializes in titanium exhaust systems for both cars and motorbikes and supplies sport exhaust equipment to several major automotive tuning houses.

Ferrari has publicly unveiled the 458 Challenge at the Bologna Motor Show. Built for the company's single-racing series, the Challenge features a race suspension (with solid aluminum bushings, stiffer springs, and single-rate dampers), Brembo CCM2 brakes (from the 599XX), and 19-inch wheels with Pirelli tires. Furthermore, to reduce weight, the car has been outfitted with thinner body panels, carbon fiber components, and Lexan windows. Power is provided by a 4499cc V8 engine that produces 570 PS (562 hp / 419 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. While this is the same as the 458 Italia, engineers modified the dual-clutch gearbox and installed 'F1-Trac' (traction control) with settings for wet and dry conditions. Thanks to all these changes, the 458 Challenge can lap the Fiorano test circuit in 1 minute, 16.5 seconds.

I went for a ride in Alberto's brand new Ferrari 458 Italia, one of the very first on the road! When i took the vid the car was just 2 days old (and so on break-in period for the engine), so it's still rare to see one! In the vid you can see it making a series of fly bys, revs, accelerations and ofcourse.. a onboard scene too. The sound coming from the engine is amazing as always for a Ferrari, it's also very fun to drive, expecially with the setup of the manettino in CT (traction controll off) as we did.
