This is a comparison for different tubes in the preamp section. For positions V3, V4, and V6, the tubes are Sovtek LPS, Sovtek LPS, and JJ respectively. Here is the preamp tube assignments: V6=Rhythm V1,V2,V5 = Lead (V1 is input) V3= FX V4= PI Note these differences are very subtle, but there are differences. Also, be aware power tubes will have a greater contribution to the sound. Hopefully this helps. To clarify, the only reason you can hear the guitar picking is due to the lower volume and the fact that I am sitting three feet from the amp. Condenser mics are more sensitive than dynamic mics and therefore are more sensitive at lower volumes.

This is just a quick few riffs strung together to a drum loop. I was just trying to see how my tone would sit in a mix with drums and bass. The amp is a Peavey 6505+, I did a see through grill mod, and installed the LED's myself. There's UV LED's in front of the tubes, and orange LED's on the top. I used a Line 6 M13 in the effects loop for the clean channel, I just used particle reverb, a bit of delay, and cave reverb. And then for the lead parts, I used the same delay and reverb. There is also a parametric EQ on the entire time, I use that to bring up the bottom end and tighten up the mids. Its basically the core of the tone, without it, you'll never get this tone with your 6505 using the same settings. The other gear used was an eBow, a Schecter Stiletto 4, and an Acoustic B600H fullstack. The guitar cab is a Marshall Mode 4 Oversized cab with Celestion Vintage 30's, I recorded it with a Shure SM57 through a M-Audio DI box, and the bass was recorded directly.

Just got a new Peavey 6505+ and am running it through the paces. As usual with my videos, I just hit record and go for it. Some of the riffs are made up on the spot, some are wrong, and some of the licks have flubs here and there. I'm not making an album, so no use it getting everything perfect. I start out on the clean channel with the crunch and bright switches engaged to get a more classic rock tone. Then I switch to the distortion channel. Towards the end, I go back and forth a few times. Too bad my camera doesn't do a good job of getting the tone. This is the type of stuff I normally play when trying out an amp. I'm not making videos to show off extreme shred skills on YouTube, so if you're looking for that, move along. This is a new Peavey 6505+ with the stock tubes running through a Marshall 1960BV cab (Marshall "Vintage" speakers). I'm using my R8 Les Paul with Fralin pickups.

This is a review of Peavey's monster of a guitar amp, the 6505. Plus points: Power to spare, and a comprehensive, yet simple, control layout. Minus points: Maybe not for you if you're not a rock/metal player. Priced at around $1200 it's not cheap, but if you want a bargain look for the 5150 II. It's essentially the same amp for less than half the money.

The guitar is a MIM Fender "Lonestar" Stratocaster with a Duncan Pearly Gates in the bridge and Texas Specials in the neck/middle positions (I don't switch to them in this video.) Cab is a Marshall 1960BV with the stock Marshall Celestion "Vintage" speakers. To me, the CAA sounds bigger. It's alot more "tweakable", has bigger lows and lower mids, smoother highs, etc... The Peavey is no slouch though, and at 1/3rd the cost of the CAA, it's well worth the new prices (and a downright bargain on the used market!) Oh yeah, on the CAA, I had the feedback knob at noon and the whomp switch in the middle.

My latest rhythm tone on the 6505+'s rhythm channel. I used a Mesa 4x12 impulse this time (instead of my usual Engl 4x12 favourites). The track was intended to have a Scar Symmetry vibe to it, but it seemed to turn out more like Dimmu Borgir sort of thing. Also thought I'd use Metalheadz EZX along with the Producer Presets. I bought Metalheadz a year ago when it came out. It didn't compare to the Avatar or TMF libraries, so I never used it. But I recently bought the Producer Presets for it and they make it much more usable. This is the Hate preset. No changes made to it. Peavey 5150 Vs Axe FX II Digital Modelling solution. This clip shows off the extent of how close fractal audios preamp section of the 5150 comes in comparison to my real 5150. And it is damn close. Both Feeds are run through the power section of the 5150, into a standard Marshall 1960 cabinet loaded with G12 75 speakers. Mic is a Shure SM57 bang on the speaker cone. this is to get a video out of the 6505+ 112 without using a video camera mic. Mic'd 6505+112 combo. to a 412 cab with 2x wgs vet 30 and 2x et-65's in an x pattern. the mic used is a GLS Audio ES 57. placed at the center of the cone of a veteran 30 12'' There are some mistakes, but this is mainly to get the sound of the amp out there without using a video camera mic, there may be a fraction of a second delay in the video to sound, was hard as hell to sync up, got pretty close though.

Just playing a few leads through my stock Peavey 6505+ and Marshall 1960A. The ESP guitar has the stock EMG 81/60 bridge/neck pickups, and I mic'ed the amp with a Shure 57. I ran the treble a little high in this example, but hopefully this will give some of you an idea of how the amp can sound.
