I caught this autorack train on the south side of Lee, Illinois. Scanner chatter indicated that 4913 would be pulling into the siding at Shabbona to allow a westbound to pass. So 4913 is slowing as it goes by since Shabbona is not too far beyond the flashing signal. The next scene is 4913 waiting and 7419 West roaring past. Finally 4913 scares a few birds as it gets rolling again. Photos at: www.flickr.com I had a nice conversation with a family whose house was next to the area from where I was shooting in Shabbona. The mother said that she slept with earplugs; that they could not have windows open at night and that the house shook as trains went by. I like putting these short narratives together when the opportunity presents. Not simply the usual train going by. Also, one of the crew got off 4913 for a bit while it was waiting. (You can see the open door.) And the conductor deliberately opened his window as the train slowly went by and gave a wave. Nice. Please watch in HD and comment. Watch in High Definition! To finish the third day of our trip, we left Barstow and started heading westbound along the BNSF Cajon Subdivision. Around Hodge, we saw a pair of headlights in the distance. We quickly pulled over and I set the camera up on a hill just in time to catch an eastbound BNSF Stack Train passing at 70 MPH. After that, we headed to Victorville. We stopped just east of the East Victorville Switches next to the twin truss bridges. We saw a stack train and a power move there. After that, we headed in for the day. Trains: Train 1: An Eastbound BNSF Stack Train zooms by Hodge at 70 Miles Per Hour. Led by BNSF ES44DC 7837. Trailing is BNSF ES44C4 6676. BNSF ES44DCs 7357 and 7616 serve as DPU. Train 2: Another Eastbound BNSF Stack Train passes East Victorville, the truss bridges, and enters the lower narrows. Led by BNSF ES44DC 7203. Trailing are ES44DC 7652 and C44-9W 4347. Train 3: A Westbound BNSF Power Move. Led by BNSF C44-9W 4172.
