Testing the CCI Shotshell in 9mm. This is a great cartridge for the intended purpose...small rodents, snakes, etc., but not adequate for law-abiding self-defense. Video indicates advertised velocity reading from DoubleTap, in addition to my own chronograph readings with the same gun, Glock 19. Montana Gold bullets are very popular with reloaders and competition shooters. Regarding the test, I'm not revealing anything.....it is well worth your time to watch if you are considering this load for concealed carry. An evaluation of the 9mm Federal HST, 147 grain. I believe this test dispelled some outdated myths regarding 147 grain bullet performance in this caliber....I'll let the video speak for itself. After completing the video, I affirmed that the expanded bullet measured approximately .8125 across it's widest spread. PLEASE NOTE: This test was in a controlled environment, illustrating possible ballistics; these results are not guaranteed. This video features THREE tests of the 9mm Federal Guard Dog cartridge; water jugs, drywall with ballistic gel/denim, and just ballistic gel with denim. This is not a typical defensive cartridge and the extent to which I take my research is much more involved than my standard protocol, resulting in a longer video than my norm. To view in greater video detail, try the 720p or 1080p HD settings. There are also a few annotations throughout the video. I have received a ton of requests to test this ammo. Law-abiding gun owners are concerned about overpenetration in a self-defense scenario, in particular within a home setting. Traditional JHP's are prone to clog in drywall, performing as a FMJ downrange and increasing the possibility of passing through several walls and endangering innocents. Federal has designed this bullet to pretty much guarantee expansion on the first wall in that setting, which will be illustrated in this video. However, my PRIMARY concern, and hopefully yours as well, is stopping the threat. A "connection" with poor bullet performance that does not diminish the threat increases the odds of YOU being put down, and the threat moving on to areas that you are trying to protect and beyond. The SIM-TEST media that I'm using is calibrated to ballistic gel specs. The four layers of denim over the block is an IWBA test standard, used to simulate heavy clothing. Test gun is the Glock 19. Brief late night video on an excellent pistol. This in my opinion is the quintessential 9mm! Even if you don't particularly like the cartridge, this gun may sway your mind on owning a gun that utilizes this caliber. It's just such a sweet shooting pistol. It's hard to match how comfortable and natural one of these feels. I'm clearly biased towards it, but for good reason. This is THE 9mm. The CZ-75B is what happens when you take the greatest aspect of the Sig Sauer P210 (slide in frame) and combine it with yet another incredible pistol - the Browning Hi Power (double stack mag -- cocked and locked). Jeff Cooper didn't give the CZ-75 his approval for nothing. I love all guns, but this one is special. It's too bad it's not more popular over here in the states. People are really missing out in a world dominated by Glocks and Springfields. I like my Glock, but if I could only have one, well... you know which one I'd be taking. CZ all the way. Overview, shooting, and evaluation of the Winchester Ranger 9mm +P+, 127 grain. Video includes a brief overview of +P+ pressure specs and how that relates to standard pressure and +P 9mm ammo. Test platform was a Glock 19, 4 inch barrel, using jugs packed with wet newspaper. Chronographed velocity (5 shot average) was 1254 fps, 443 foot-pounds of energy at the muzzle. Shot into the jugs was from 15 feet. Penetration and expansion results were similar to Winchester's official testing in ballistic gel. IMPORTANT: If you choose to test or carry this particular cartridge, please insure that your firearm will safely fire and cycle +P+ pressures. Evaluation of the CorBon Pow'RBall in 9mm. Test media was wet newspaper jugs with 4 layers of denim. Segment includes slow-motion of impact. Test gun was the Glock 19. This was a night test from the garage, but I had a backstop, plus trees in the backyard....and another two miles of forest downrange. There were some deer mingling around, but they retreated once they saw the Glock. Testing 9mm tracers that I purchased from a vendor at the Knob Creek Gun Show, October 2010. This stuff is pricey per round, so you would hope that it works. It can to some degree, but there are caveats to the process. This video could save you a few bucks, and some headaches. In addition to what is discussed in the video, this ammo is HOT. I would say it is equal to or exceeds +P+ pressures, based on my experience. That alone may discourage use in your firearm, regardless of your opinion on the video's conclusion. The packaging shown is generic and was probably marketed in this manner by the vendor or a distributor. Using the description provided in the video, you can locate photos of this ammo online in the original packaging. At the time of this video upload, I noticed this specific ammo with matching headstamp markings was being sold on www.gunbroker.com and other venues. If these work in your gun, great. You might also search online for SBR tracers; I've seen them on Midway USA and other sites. There are several videos on YouTube of 9mm tracers, so either this Israeli ammo works in their guns, or they are using another brand of ammo. You may also have some success with various 9mm semi-auto carbines. SAFETY NOTE: When shooting tracers of any caliber, try to do so with optimum ground conditions if possible to avoid setting a fire. The tracer compound can ignite dry brush in an instant....it has happened.

This is my main every day carry (EDC) guns. I also carry the Keltec LCP as a backup. I use the small grip back strap and I am able to get a great grip on the gun. I can shoot the XD(m) better that I could shoot my old Glock 23c. I don't think the XDm 3.8 makes a huge difference in the ability to carry concealed as the barrel is the only thing that is smaller. I had to cut the factory holster paddle a little bit. It was jabbing me in the hip while sitting. I had to replace the factory magazine belt holster with a Fobus magazine paddle holster because I take the holster on and off during the day. The 5.11 covert casual shirts I wear would also hide the barrel of the larger xdm. I draw the xmd by grasping the bottom of the shirt and pulling back it breaks the snaps loose. PART 1 of 3: Nutnfancys look at an in-service Beretta M9 service pistol. The M9 was one of the designs that helped change the world looks at semi-automatic pistols due to its reliability and demonstrated durability. It has amassed a generally excellent track record in service with the military but does have some drawbacks. I contend its overly large for the 9mm loading even when compared against other full size pistols, its entirely too heavy, has more complexity, and can be less reliable than the Glock and Sig designs (from my OWN experience which is irrefutablesaw it with my own eyesyours may vary). However it has a decent traditional SA/DA trigger, good accuracy, tough weather-resistant Bruniton finish, and good firepower. The open slide was a modification designed to help reliability but its overrated in purpose and other closed-slide designs have proven extremely reliable in equally dirty conditions. Nowadays the Beretta is a dated design that has been surpassed by lots of other handguns in the categories listed. Nutnfancy Likeability Scale: 5 out of 10

Review of some European 9mm target ammo that I acquired at a local big-box store. At the time of production/upload, this ammo was reasonably priced and readily available. I was hoping this 124 gr FMJ would be close to NATO spec, but it's not. Nonetheless, it appears to be a quality product. I would certainly consider this effective for longer distance target practice, also as an element in my long-term surplus stash.

Shooting the 9mm +P Federal HST, 124 gr, into water/newspaper jugs. As you would anticipate with a premium-design, high-velocity JHP handgun round, it hits hard, expands quickly, and offers pretty good penetration in this type of media. Using similar testing media and conditions, the 124 +P HST carries higher energy, but doesn't penetrate quite as far as it's 147 gr sibling. Hence the debate.....light/fast bullets vs. slow/heavy. I too was enamored with the MP5 for both its image and capabilities but I still look at the AT-94 with 20/20 vision and approached this extensive test with an open mind. Sadly it loses out the the MP5 in handling and weight, being condemned by legalities to wearing a 16" barrel. I recommend, where legal, you SBR this sucker and regain the MP5 form factor.
