Along the southern border of the High Atlas, situated between the Sahara and Marrakech, is the impressive village of Ait Benhaddou. The settlement was once situated along one of the country's most important caravan routes, but the region's ancient trading routes are no longer used today. A walled village, the Ksar, was founded in the 12th century by the people of Ait Aissa and its narrow lanes lead up to several fortress-like citadels, the five main Kasbahs of Ait Benhaddou. For visitors, the narrow, medieval lanes of the village are tantamount to a confusing maze, however, the plain but nevertheless, expressive architecture of the houses has a unique and magical atmosphere. Fortunately, the cultural and historical value of this unique Moroccan clay village has now been fully recognized. Otherwise each of the houses, towers and kasbahs of Ait Benhaddou may have long since disappeared beneath the sands of time.

On the tenth of October, the formal inauguration of the AIT-Balkh University (BU) project office took place at AIT. Acting Chairperson of the AIT Board of Trustees, HE Mrs. Merete Fjeld Brattested (fourth from left) , Ambassador of Norway to Thailand, who was the guest of honor, was invited to perform the honorary and symbolic ribbon cutting. Other dignitaries included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thailand, and the Ambassadors of Bangladesh, Canada, Japan and Sri Lanka. Representatives from the embassies of Indonesia, Cambodia Iran, Korea, Laos, Pakistan, Turkey, Vietnam and Qatar also participated in the event. Aside from the faculty members and staff of AIT, several Afghan students also attended the event despite their mid-term examination schedules. During her address Ambassador Brattested noted that the inauguration of the AIT-Balkh University Project Office symbolizes the fact that AIT has expanded its services to Afghanistan through capacity building efforts for higher education development in the country. Ambassador Brattested commended AIT for its courage and interest in sharing and contributing to the people of Afghanistan the Institutes 50 years of expertise in science, technology and management - in essence sustainable development. Several faculty members from various Afghan universities are currently pursuing their certificate and masters degree programs at AIT. AIT currently has 20 alumni from Afghanistan. Campagne de la famille révolutionnaire contre Aït Hamouda Benyoucef Mellouk simplique Le député et vice-président de lAPN, Nordine Aït Hamouda, qui est la cible de la famille révolutionnaire depuis quil a lancé le pavé des faux moudjahidine dans la mare, vient de bénéficier dun soutien de taille.
