I finally get to debut my Austria costume. And for this 'test' run, i'm playing Austria's old imperial anthem, 'God Save Emperor Franz' written by one of Austria's favorite composers, FJ Haydn. Since the abolition of the monarchy, the tune is now associated with the German Anthem.

This well-known Christmas carol, "O Holy Night", also known as "Cantique de Noel", was composed by Adolphe Charles Adam in 1847 to the French poem "Minuit, Chrétiens" by Placide Cappeau (1808-1877). It was translated into English by Unitarian minister John Sullivan Dwight in 1855, who included an abolitionist message, and, of course, it has been translated into many other languages. This performance is by Tuire Karaharju-Huisman, singing in Swedish with The Scandinavian Choir at The Swedish Church in Melbourne, where my wife and I went to hear a Scandinavian Christmas Concert.
