I was trying to think of something to do as a "send-off" for Season 1 before Season 2 starts and I came up with, well, this! It's a Genesis-style 16 bit medley mix of several of the songs from Season 1. Basically I tried to make it similar to the credits medleys at the end of the Sonic the Hedgehog games for Genesis. It doesn't contain every song, but it has a least a bit from most of them. Hope you like it! This was made in FL studio using primarily the VOPM VST plugin, which emulates the Sega Genesis' YM2612 sound chip. The DAC drum samples are from Sonic 3. Technically I "cheated" a tiny bit by adding delay effects (though on the actual Genesis you could simulate delay by repeating notes with lower velocity), but for the most part all the sounds are authentic Sega genesis sounds. [THIS REALLY KICKS IN AT 27s!] Here is my version of the classic C64 tune Last Ninja 2 - Central Park. This was crying out to be beefed up with some guitars, drums and whatever else I had handy, but I also kept the SID sounds in there to give it that classic C64 feel. I used QuadraSid (a VST plugin that emulates the sound of the C64 SID chip) to copy the original sounds (took ages to get them sounding right), and after adding the guitar I was pretty pleased with the result. This was great fun to do, so if anyone has any requests for more chip tunes that could do with a bit of guitar treatment then let me know - we can add to the new genre of SID rock! PLAY THIS LOUD! This is my take on the famous moon theme, taken from Disney's Duck Tales NES game, and originally composed by Yoshihiro Sakaguchi. That program lets you edit audio and video simultaneously (if you stretch the audio, the video will stretch too), I didn't even really look at the video much until it was finished. I then used Antares Autotune as a VST plugin in Ableton to tune the vocals. I used autotune on manual input mode, so I could control what notes he sang using my MIDI keyboard. I found similar settings to what I use by searching for videos on how to do the "T-Pain autotune effect" in Antares. To learn Ableton Live itself, I used its built-in walkthrough, which is very straightforward.
