Adem Jashari[note 1] (28 November 1955 -- 7 March 1998) born in Prekaz, in the Drenica region of Kosovo, (formerly part of the defunct Yugoslavia). He is considered to be one of the chief architects of the Kosovo Liberation Army, along with Zahir Pajaziti. Jashari was a chief commander in the Drenica operation zone of the KLA. Along with his brother Hamza, Adem participated in the defense of Kosovar citizens against genocidal Serbian forces. Serbia considered him a terrorist, which led to the military action by Serbian para-military in 1998. In July 1997 a Serbian court had convicted him in absentia of "terrorist actions" in a trial condemned by international human rights groups.[1] He was murdered in March 1998, along with most of his extended family, when Serbian security forces laid siege to his home in Prekaz i Poshtem.[2][3]

- ATENTION PLEASE - I'm the owner of this video. I dedicated this video to KLA (KOSOVA LIBERATION ARMYT) espacially the chief commander Adem Jashari. I tried to inform the World for this Human who did everything just to breath in Freedom. I don't know if I arrived doing a good job so it's your turn now to rate me by giving stars and commenting. But there aren't enough words to explain this true Legend. It's not a random action sacrifing the whole family (about 50 members) and himself too, only for stopping terror and genocid of Serbs which was happening in Kosova during 90s. Adem Jashari's last moments of his life were happy. He was sorrounded from Serbian Tanks but he didn't care about that and sang a folk song " For my Homeland" that means in Albanian (Per Memedhene). He became a National Hero and the World History Will have a special place to write about Adem Jashari (The Symbol of Freedom). Thanks for Watching.

This is song for Adem Jashari* The Jasharis, the Story of a Resistance PREKAZ, Kosova -- A memorial is being constructed here to honor the memory of Adem Jashari and his family, who ignited all-out war for Kosovo's independence by sacrificing their lives. From the perspective of ethnic Albanians who backed the armed struggle against Serbian rule, the ruined home where 20 Jasharis--including women and children--died is drenched not only in blood but also in honor. Glossy brochures for visitors tell the story of events here in that spirit. The pamphlet distributed at the battle site focuses on Adem Jashari--a founder of the Kosovo Liberation Army--and the 19 members of his family who died with him. It does little more than mention the 36 distant relatives and neighbors also killed in the three-day siege. But the brochure presents a picture of a family fiercely devoted to the fight for independence and ready to give their lives for that cause. Titled "The Jasharis, the Story of a Resistance," the pamphlet traces Adem Jashari's eight-year armed struggle and declares that family members were "loyal co-fighters" who were "ready for sublime sacrifice." Jashari's wife, Adile, was the first person killed in the 1998 siege, "while taking ammunition to Adem," the brochure says. The last to die was their son Kushtrim, 13, who fell "holding the automatic gun in his hands," it says.
