Curiosity killed the cat and this is why I purchased the Airfix Jet Engine light 'n' sound kit (A20005) which is part of the Engineering series by the Airfix company. In my review I spice it up by simulating some of the extreme tests real jet engines are put through before certification. Chicken injection, foreign objects, hail and explosive blade off tests. Can a Lego Ninjago minifigure survive a fight with this toy jet? Airfix says..With spinning turbo fans and a variable thrust control, this is a brilliant way to understand the working features of a Jet Engine. With 50 over parts, this is a fun and interesting model to build. BUT, In my video I came across a number of core problems and found myself re-engineering this lovely looking model to actually work. I have included a special hidden feature covering many questions about the old backyard jet engine Karl and I made back in the 1980's. I dust it off and remember all the fun and danger of being a teenager again. A step by step photo build guide for the Airfix 1/72 scale Handley Page Hampden , used as a medium bomber by the RAF in the early years of the war. Nicknamed the 'flying suitcase' due to it's rather compact nature , it was celebrated by its crews for manouverability but not it's cramped conditions and vulnerability to fighter attack. This example was flown by Flight Lieutenant (later Wing Commander)Roderick 'Babe' Learoyd of 49 squadron on a raid on the Dortmund Ems Canal on the 12th August 1940 for which he was later awarded the Victoria Cross for outstanding leadership and courage under fire. The music I have used is 'Trampoline' by lolo which I don't own so all the rights are retained by specfic rights holders.

Took delivery of this little beauty a few days ago. I was eager to see just what improvements Airfix had made over their dreadful original after my experience with it earlier this year and I have to say the improvements are many. Other than the fact that it bears the same name and overall shape, there is nothing in common between the two kits. Airfix have brought their new releases smack-bang into the 21st Century. This kit has a very nicely detailed cockpit which will be easily seen through the crystal clear canopy. A two-part radial engine with cooling fin detail, wheel wells and properly sculpted wheel struts and covers. No rivet detail, and the panel lines are typically heavy, but they are crisp and clean. A nice touch is the option to have the wing-tips folded! Another point to note is that the decals are printed by Cartograph and not only are they in precision register, they have no discernible excess carrier film at all! Given that this retails for £5.99 (you may find it cheaper on ebay but there's P&P to consider) this kit represent exceptional value for money and I would recommend this to anyone who builds 1/72 WWII subjects.

From early in the war, there had been experiments with mounting flamethrowers on British vehicles; leading to vehicles such as the Cockatrice, Basilisk and the Wasp (the latter being a flamethrower on a Universal Carrier). The Churchill Oke, a flamethrower carrying Churchill Mark II developed by a Royal Tank Regiment officer, was tested operationally on the Dieppe Raid. Parallel development work was carried out by the Petroleum Warfare Department, AEC and the Ministry of Supply (MoS) on Valentine tanks. The Department of Tank Design preferred the Churchill, which was the Infantry tank successor to the Valentine, as a basis for further work.General Percy Hobart saw the Crocodile demonstrated in 1943 and pressured the MoS to produce a development plan and the Chief of the General Staff added the flamethrowers to the 79th Division plan.The flamethrower equipment was produced as a kit that REME workshops could fit in the field, converting any available Churchill Mk VII. The conversion kit consisted of the trailer, an armoured pipe fitted along the underside of the tank, and the projector, which replaced the hull mounted Besa machine gun. The Crocodile was therefore still able to function as a gun tank with its turret mounted Ordnance QF 75 mm gun.Of the 800 kits produced, 250 were held in reserve for possible operations against the Japanese. The remainder was sufficient for producing three regiments of tanks as well as training and replacements for battlefield casualties.400 <b>...</b>

Kit no. 07002 Skill Level: 2 The classic Airfix kit from 1966... and as far as I know the only kit if you want to build a Stirling in 1/72! It's a kit that many modellers have in their stash, but very few actually gets round to ever building one.. It's the first model of my theme for 2010, which is 'Bombers & Nightfighters'.. Kit Rating: 8 / 10 (Overall a nice and decent enough kit, but the cockpit could do with some more stuff in it.. The small windows had a poor fit and are best replaced using some 'Clearfix', I think!) Decal Rating: 7 / 10 (I got a kit with the glossy version of the Airfix decals in it.. They had trouble coming off the decalling paper and carried a lot of excess decal film, but worked well enough with a drop of Johnsons Klear, and conformed nicely to the model.) Build Rating: 8 / 10 (An enjoyable build, without any major issues! I should however have waited and added the props last!!) Just a Small update on the AirFix TSR2 Project ! It is now standing on its Landing gears and wheels ! The Wolfpack Resin Tires and SAC Metal Landing gears are great addition to this Model ! I should be able to Pre Shade the Panel lines very soon and get on with the final color (Canadian VooDoo Grey) and move this project closer to the finish line ! Thanks for watching !

The Hurricane Mk II was hastily tropicalised following Italy's entry into the war in June 1940. These aircraft were initially ferried through France by air to 80 Squadron in Egypt to replace Gladiators. The Hurricane claimed its first kill in the Mediterranean on 19 June 1940, when F/O PG Wykeham-Barnes reported shooting down two Fiat CR.42s. Hurricanes served with several British Commonwealth squadrons in the Desert Air Force. They suffered heavy losses over North Africa after the arrival of Bf 109E and F-variants and were progressively replaced in the air superiority role from June 1941 by Curtiss Tomahawks/Kittyhawks. However, fighter-bomber variants ("Hurribombers") retained an edge in the ground attack role, due to their impressive armament of four 20 mm (.79 in) cannon and a 500 lb (230 kg) bombload. From November 1941, beginning in the Libyan desert, it had to face a new formidable opponent: the new Regia Aeronautica Macchi C.202 Folgore. The Italian aircraft proved superior to the Hawker fighter. The C.202, thanks to its excellent agility and a new, more powerful inline engine, could outperform it in a dogfight. During and following the five-day El Alamein artillery barrage that commenced on the night of 23 October 1942, six squadrons of Hurricanes, including the 40 mm cannon-armed Hurricane Mk.IID version, claimed to have destroyed 39 tanks, 212 lorries and armoured troop-carriers, 26 bowsers, 42 guns, 200 various other vehicles and four small fuel and ammunition <b>...</b>

Mig-15 plastic model. Soviet airforce (Voenno Vzdushnoye Sily) 1951. I had prepared more photos of it, but not all came out good, so I hope you will be satisfied whit these few. Its just a basic out of the box model. I made the stance from polystyren, paper and coloure it with acrylic paints. The lable could have been better though... The plane contains some smaller bugs (mistakess), but Im very happy with it anyway :P I wonder what does Rob (BassicModelling) think about this :D If you want to ask something: go ahead... Released in 1961, it lacks detail in some places, and has somewhat of an identity issue regarding its exact version, but it is delightful to build and would recommend this to a beginner! These kit's have all been made in recent years, sadly I gave all my original 1960's Airfix models away when I was teenager, many of them are no longer in production now, and sadly I never even kept the box's and so I have lost all those lovely Roy Cross Artworks which were full of action, shooting, bombing and explosions. Sadly the Airfix art work is not what it used to be, political correctness? Sorry but I prefer the politically incorrect, it was more exciting and inspiring, and also more representative of what the machines of war actually did, they were weapons of war and they saw action, it wasn't nice for the brave people involved but it was the reality of what these machines were, they were killing machines ..!
