Albéniz, Asturias (Leyenda), guitar solo, James Edwards (animation)

Isaac Albéniz's Asturias (Leyenda), arranged for guitar and performed by James Edwards, accompanied by an animated score. FAQ Q: Where can I get this recording? A: This recording is from Edward's CD "Andaluza"; it and many of his other recordings can be purchased here: jamesedwardsguitar.com Q: Where can I learn more about James Edwards? A: Here's a link to his web site: jamesedwardsguitar.com Q: Where can I get sheet music for this? A: YouTube user a2dejans suggested this: www.angelfire.com Q: What do the colors indicate? A: This video uses "harmonic coloring," in which each pitch class (C, C-sharp, D, etc.) is a different color, with the colors being assigned according to the circle of fifths. You can read more about this technique here: www.musanim.com In this video, I've departed from my convention of using blue as the tonic because green seemed more appropriate to the mood of the piece. Incidentally, this mode of coloring is supported by the MAMPlayer (see the next FAQ item). Q: Isthere a way I could make the bar-graph scores myself? A: The Music Animation Machine MIDI file player will generate this display; you can get the (Windows) software here: www.musanim.com There are lots of places on the web where you can get MIDI files; I usually go to the Classical Archives site first: www.classicalarchives.com

ALBÉNIZ (Tárrega): Asturia (Leyenda) - Andrés SEGOVIA

Passing Through: www.youtube.com - Friends, Please visit my Poet friend "Passing Through's" YouTube channel: www.youtube.com , and support him - Thanks :) Asturia (Leyenda) In 1883 Isaac Albéniz met the teacher and composer Felipe Pedrell, who inspired him to write Spanish music such as the Suite Española, Op. 47. The fifth movement of that suite, called Asturias (Leyenda) is probably most famous these days in the classical guitar world, even though it was originally composed for piano and only later transcribed to guitar by Francisco Tárrega. Many of his other compositions were also later transcribed to guitar - Albéniz himself preferred Tárrega's guitar transcriptions to his original piano works. Leyenda (Asturias) is a work of classical music written by the Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz. Originally written for piano in G minor, it was Francisco Tárrega who transcribed it for guitar and put it in its most recognizable key, E minor. It is the most famous section in a suite entitled "Suite Española" (Op. 47), noted for its delicate, intricate melody and abrupt dynamic changes. Xuefei Yang plays Sevilla by Isaac Albeniz

Supremely talented guitarist Xuefei Yangs second disc for EMI Classics, 40 Degrees North, comprises guitar music from Spain and China. The disc is so titled because the capital cities of both countries lie near latitude 40 degrees north. As Yang herself says, "To me, this parallel has come to symbolize the connection I feel to the music of both countries." The Spanish repertoire includes original solo guitar compositions (such as Tárregas Carnival of Venice) as well as arrangements of pieces written for piano or two guitars (Albénizs Seguidillas). Many of these works appear in new arrangements by Yang herself. Since China has no established guitar repertoire of its own, the Chinese pieces on this recording originate either from arrangements of traditional Chinese pieces (including two traditional Chinese folk songs arranged for guitar by Gerald Garcia), or new compositions based on Chinese themes (such as Welsh composer Stephen Gosss Chinese Garden, written especially for Yang). Also included on this recording is Butterfly Lovers, originally written as a violin concerto using Western orchestral instruments and arguably the best known piece of Chinese music. ________________________________________ More information: www.yang40degreesnorth.com ________________________________________ Buy from Amazon (USA) www.amazon.com ________________________________________ Buy from Amazon (UK): astore.amazon.co.uk ________________________________________ Buy from Amazon (FR): www.amazon ...

Spanish Tango - Isaac Albéniz

Originally written for piano, this tango by Albéniz was trancripted and performed for guitar duet by Laurindo Almeida (Brazil). Almeida was better known as a jazz guitar player, but he was also a fine and versatile musician, composer and arranger who won 2 Oscars and 10 Grammys. This video is dedicated to my first two suscribers: Raissa (chsgdss) and Patrick (yarods). The pictures are of Spain, of course.

This arrangement can be bought at www.per-olovkindgren.com I. Albeniz (1860-1909) was a piano virtuoso. We guitarists like to transcribe his music to the guitar since the spirit in it is very ideomatic for the guitar. Albeniz is quoted to once have said he prefered some of his pieces on the guitar. Caravaggio With Asturias Leyenda Isaac Albeniz Piano

Caravaggio with Albeniz play Jorge Federico Osorio, piano Isaac Albeniz: Suite Española No. 1 - Asturias (Leyenda) Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1573-1610). Probably the most revolutionary artist of his time, the Italian painter Caravaggio abandoned the rules that had guided a century of artists before him. They had idealized the human and religious experience. He was born Michelangelo Merisi on Sept. 28, 1573, in Caravaggio, Italy. As an adult he would become known by the name of his birthplace. Orphaned at age 11, he was apprenticed to the painter Simone Peterzano of Milan for four years. At some time between 1588 and 1592, Caravaggio went to Rome and worked as an assistant to painters of lesser skill. About 1595 he began to sell his paintings through a dealer. The dealer brought Caravaggio to the attention of Cardinal Francesco del Monte. Through the cardinal, Caravaggio was commissioned, at age 24, to paint for the church of San Luigi dei Francesi. In its Contarelli Chapel Caravaggio's realistic naturalism first fully appeared in three scenes he created of the life of St. Matthew. The works caused public outcry, however, because of their realistic and dramatic nature Englisg en.wikipedia.org Italiano it.wikipedia.org Spanish es.wikipedia.org Jorge Federico Osorio Recognized as one of the preeminent pianists of our time, Jorge Federico Osorio has been internationally acclaimed for his superb musicianship and absolute command of the instrument.
