Victoria "Jazz" Gay and Raye "Zap" Hollitt were American Gladiators. Jazz was a 5'10 180 lbs. African-American. Zap was a 5'7 130 lbs. blonde. Jazz and Zap were teammates during Seasons 5 & 6. This video contains some of their Powerball highlights from these seasons. Jazz made 63 tackles in 18 games (3.5 average). Zap made 18 tackles in 12 games (1.5 average). The video has 29 of Jazz's 63 tackles and 10 of Zap's 18 tackles. Jazz led all female Gladiators in tackles. Ice was 2nd in total tackles with 41. Siren was 2nd in tackles per game with 2.51.

Another recent commercial, featuring competition footage, of the return of the hit show; this time to network TV in primetime! Debuts Jan 6th on NBC. Video introduces all the new Gladiators and shows clips of old favorite events: Gauntlet, Powerball, Joust, Hang Tough, The Wall and Pyramid. A Gladiator is shown being thrown into the water after losing Assault. Two new events for the American audience are also seen. Hit and Run, an event played in Gladiators outside the US, is where contenders must run back and forth across a suspensions bridge to earn points while four Gladiators swing 100lb demolition balls at at them. Earthquake is a new event where Gladiator and contender fight to knock the other off a 14ft circular oscillating platform.

This is video that was recorded by a photography company in Columbus, Georgia while I was in US Army Basic Combat Training from August-Nov 1997. This company would record various bits of training and then rip of the Joes by charging them large quantities of hard-earned money for this bouncy, grainy video. Anyways....its good to have this record of what I was going through, though it is hardly all-encompassing. This is video from our Pugil training. This is to help develop bayonet skills...and to beat the crap out of each other. Good stuff...Hooah! More clips from my basic training to come.

The fact that 3 competitions in this game can be mastered by a 2 year old and all the rest of the competitions cannot be played at all is just a slap in the face. On a positive note, Gina Carano played Crush on the show and she is fuckarific. American Gladiators is also on the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Amiga, and Mega Drive. I have no idea if the other versions are any different to the genesis nor do I have any inclination to find this out.
