Passenger & Freight Train pace each other near Geelong - Railroads and Trains
If you can believe your eyes it looks like a Geelong bound V/line passenger train on the broad gauge tracks is pacing a Pacific National freight train on the standard gauge tracks. The reality is the two trains were about 10 minutes apart! The original camera shots had no pan, tilt, or zoom - I just did a simple point and shoot for the freight train, then knowing a passenger train was due a few minutes later left all the settings alone and repeated the shot for the passenger train. The next step of compositing the two shots was a bit tricky as the lighting had changed, however once that was manually corrected I masked the v/line train onto the freight train movie, and when happy with the results added a pan & zoom effect to complete the scene. Quite a bit of effort to make it look real, but it was a fun learning experience!

[SHORT FILM] Without a Word
A story about two strangers who will always remain that way because neither sides were willing to take that extra leap to talk to each other. I think that we all go through these kinds of situations everyday in our lives; meeting someone we like, but never have the confidence to get to know them. Sometimes the timing can be all wrong and everyone ends up in totally different places. Fate can only do so much by itself. It brings people together, but it's completely up to us whether or not we stay together. Anywho, you will notice that the camera quality does flicker around in the scenes. The reason behind this is that this video is actually my final project for my video class and we are forced to use the school's lower quality camcorder. (I sneaked my DSLR in for some scenes, hence the random good quality.) The video shows a mother grabbing her four-year-old son and running for cover. A man sitting right by the back door is frozen, and can only slump back in his seat. And this 80-year-old woman doesn't know what to do. "You see her very clearly because she doesn't actually see what's going on. She's sort of left standing in the middle of the bus as everyone has sort of separated all the way to the front or all the way as far as they could go to the back," said Morgan Model Vedejs, assistant District Attorney. The elderly woman finally drops and covers her head, just a moment before a bullet flies right over her and shatters a window. "At least five of the bullets came right through the back door, several of them then came through the side," said Vedejs. Many of the other passengers ran toward the front of the bus, and piled on top of each other, desperate to get off. The man who criticized Chapman's parenting-- the target of all those bullets, according to prosecutors-- dove right on top of that four-year-old boy. The bus driver then gunned it, and got left the scene. The bus was carrying 10 to 15 passengers at the time of the shooting. Longboarding: Beware of Men
Having fun at a thrift store helped create and inspire this video. There are a total of 3 dramatic costume changes in this video, pretty easy to spot. And I think it is safe to say this is the first time anyone has skated with a purple stuffed elephant lased to their helmet in a video. Patrick grew out a nice mustache just for this video, stoked. James and Patrick rock some fun outfits for this video down a really fun, gnarly, fast path. We were originally going to do the video on this one road, but saw this path off to the side of the road. The gate was open, so the boys skated down it and it was apparent that this gnarly path was a perfect spot for a video. Turns out the family that owned the path their sons had heard of Orangatang wheels and one of them owned a Dervish so we were in. For this video, I shot with 50mm lens at the beginning and for the skating I shot mostly with a 70-200mm lens. This is the first time using such a zoom lens and most of the time I shot between 150-200mm. I wanted to try something different by using a zoom lens and being really tight on following the subjects. It was a challenge following them down the path but I think it really captured well the speed and beautiful movement down the path. Jacko for the first day worked the wide-angle lens and got those shots. It was nice working with Jacko having an extra hand to document the turns and such, much more efficient. It's a long, hard, awesome process, and I hope this gives you a little peek of what goes into it. First, me and Lloyd (Hitler, Bill O'Reilly, Chuck Norris) sit down and look through the comment suggestions for a new rap. We are looking for interesting match-ups, people that make sense together but not exactly. With Lincoln VS Norris, we liked it because Chuck Norris has become this mythical American hero, and Lincoln is like this classic American hero, and we thought they would have a lot to say to each other. Next, we find the beat. That's a very hard part, finding the perfect beat. We found this one from MrFlamez, a very talented young producer out of Chicago. MGMT was not involved in the making of this video, however, they became involved down the line. The story goes like this: December 2007: Rushing to make a due date for a USC Music Video class, I ask my friends Raf and Abby to appear in my video. I like the way they bounce off of each other despite completely different personality types, and think they both have interesting faces. Raf didn't want to shave so I didn't push him. We shot in one night, I cut overnight, turn it in and call it the worst thing I've done so far. January 2008: On a whim one night while visiting home in Austin, Texas, I throw the video on Youtube just for kicks. April 2008: Ray Tintori, who has directed 3 official videos for MGMT, finds my fan video online and invites myself and my two actors to come to New York to appear in MGMTs next official video for Electric Feel. May 2008: We go to New York and have a great time on the set with the band and all their friends.
