APPARAT - ARCADIA
Apparat es un músico electrónico alemán llamado Sascha Ring que vive en Berlín y es uno de los propietarios del sello Shitkatapult. Empezó con techno orientado a la pista de baile para ir pasándose a la música ambiental. Hace poco ha decidido "centrar su interés en diseñar sonidos en vez de beats". Su música actual está más cercana al glitch oa la música dance inteligente (IDM en sus siglas inglesas), acompañada de instrumentos de cuerda clásicos y otros sonidos. En 2004, participó en una sesión de John Peel. Ha colaborado con Ellen Allien en el álbum Berlinette en 2003, y de nuevo en el 2006 en el álbum Orchestra of Bubbles.

Useless Information We usually travel with our destination in mind. We travel with hopes and expectations. We travel from one place to another. We travel with an end, and sometimes, without. But we always travel towards that final stop. But have we ever wondered about the rest of the things that come and go during our transit? The objects, the places and the people that exist without being a part of our world and yet co-exist without our knowledge. Those that exist in time and space, by the law of nature or man, but remain mostly ignored by the traveller. They whiz into our worlds, play a momentary and insignificant part of the landscape they already belong to and once done are shelved into oblivion rendering it useless unless called upon by cognizance. Useless Information is a tale of these very insignificant 'actors' taking centre stage. A result of a realization expressed through a form materialized out of inspiration.

Starting out with dance floor-oriented techno, he later started to create ambient music and more recently became "more interested in designing sounds than beats". Recent music is closer to glitch or IDM, accompanied with classical string instruments and other sounds. The website apparat.net features a few Max/MSP patches, presumably used by him. In 2004, he appeared at a John Peel session. He collaborated with Ellen Allien in 2003 on the album Berlinette, and again in 2006 on the album Orchestra of Bubbles.
