History of Apple Inc

First Apple was designed by Steve Wozniak. Steve Jobs, a friend had the idea of selling the computer. Exhibited at Homebrew Computer Club in April 1976 and went on sale in July 1976 at a price of $666.66. About 200 30-chip units were assambled. However, users had to add case, power supply, keyboard & display. A cassete interface for storage was released later at $75. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL; previously Apple Computer, Inc.) is an American multinational corporation that designs and markets consumer electronics, computer software, and personal computers. The company's best-known hardware products include the Macintosh line of computers, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad. Apple software includes the Mac OS X operating system; the iTunes media browser; the iLife suite of multimedia and creativity software; the iWork suite of productivity software; Aperture, a professional photography package; Final Cut Studio, a suite of professional audio and film-industry software products; Logic Studio, a suite of music production tools; the Safari web browser; and iOS, a mobile operating system. As of October 2010, the company operates 317 retail stores in ten countries, and an online store where hardware and software products are sold. As of September 2011, Apple is the largest publicly traded company in the world by market capitalization and the largest technology company in the world by revenue and profit. Slaves of Apple Inc.

Chinese Workers Cry Out for Help! At Foxconn, one major manufacturer of Apple's iPhone, iMac, iPad and iPod touch, an alarming wave of suicides had finally caught the media's attention. Unfortunately, the claims date back to 2010, when 13 workers at a factory run by Apple supplier Foxconn committed suicide. All jumped to their deaths from factory rooftops after claiming that the company ran military-style production lines on which employees were forced to work overtime for low wages. Living in dorms with up to twenty four workers in each room with barred windows and then working long hours each day makes life for these young people unbearable. These conditions have virtually created labor camps run by foreign plantation owners. They are indeed, the slaves of Apple. Though Apple has been on notice for 5 years as the target of a campaign by USAS' Hong Kong partner Students and Scholars Against Corporate Misbehavior (SACOM), genuine changes have not taken place. Despite persistent efforts by SACOM to get Apple to stop the abuses at Foxconn, Apple's former CEOs Jobs and their current CEO, Tim Cook, had falsely denied the problem until recently. Since January, 13 young workers at Apple's supplier factory in Shenzhen, China have committed suicide, and just a few days ago, a young worker died from exhaustion. Why? Working 36 hours nonstop without overtime pay, earning poverty wages, facing humiliation by company managers and being denied independent union representation. While ...

Will Apple Inc. Fall From Prosperity?

Transcript by Newsy: www.youtube.com BY JIM FLINK ANCHOR LAUREN GORES Is Apple about to fall from the tree of prosperity? That's the premise of the latest post on George Colony's Blog on Forrester.com, also published in Forbes. In that blog, Colony predicts a dire future for Apple, comparing it to (gasp) Sony. In Colony's words... "When Steve Jobs departed, he took three things with him: 1) singular charismatic leadership... 2) the ability to take big risks, and 3) an unparalleled ability to envision and design products. Apple's momentum will carry it for 24-48 months." But — without Jobs — Colony predicts an eventual "commensurate step down in revenue growth and product innovation." Now, this isn't just some fly-by-night blogger. CNN calls Colony — a top analyst — noting he's the CEO of a preeminent tech research firm. While, at the same time, pointing out Colony is definitely NOT talking about the here and now. "This week, Apple reported doubling its profits in the first three months of the year, largely on the strength of the 35.1 million iPhones it sold." And — CNN notes — Apple also says it sold nearly 12 million iPads and nearly 8 million iPods during that quarter. Daring Fireball's John Gruber says, while he doesn't necessarily agree with Colony, he also thinks his reasoning is sound. "Apple did not fall to pieces when Jobs died, but no one with a clue expected it to. But Tim Cook and the remaining leadership team have yet to prove themselves in the long run ...

Apple CEO Tim Cook Visits China Foxconn Manufacturing Plant

After months of questioning Apple's deals with Chinese manufacturing company Foxconn and the treatment of workers at plants that make gadgets like the iPhone and iPad, the tech giant's head has visited the plant in question. Photos provided by Apple this week show Tim Cook smiling and visiting with some of the reported 120000 workers employed by Foxconn's large plant. An investigation into manufacturing there by the New York Times has suggested low standards for treatment of workers and safety concerns. Cook also met with political leaders in Beijing. Apple may be going on the PR offensive now that one of the biggest negative stories about conditions at the plant was infamously retracted by Public Radio's This American Life, after much of contributor Mike Daisy's reporting was found to be fabricated. But there isn't much story to the visit beyond a few pre-approved photos. The only great power that controls its media as tightly as China is, apparently, Apple.

Apple's Big Market is Now China, But Will it Last?

Follow: @SlateViral, Facebook.com/SlateVideo Watch more: SlateV.com This year, and perhaps for years to come, Apple's biggest gadget sales could happen in the very country where they're made: China. The tech company's quarterly earnings have again wowed investors, with $110 billion cash on hand, and over $600 per share price on the stock market. But the biggest news—and the biggest questions about Apple's future growth—may lie in the Chinese market, which already in 2012 is on track to consume more smartphones than the United States. Investors say China's skyrocketing consumer economy for new gadgets like the iPhone could deliver big for the company, which will compete with Android phone makers to cash in on new wealth among China's middle class. But some say Apple's explosive growth in sales can't continue at the current pace, and without another revolutionary product, sales could dip dramatically. Tim Cook, if you want to beat those Google glasses sales, it's time to pull something out of the hat!

Google Cofounder: Apple, Facebook, China Among Biggest Threats to Open Internet

The Internet has its own Axis of Evil, and it includes China, Iran, and Facebook. That's what Google co-founder Sergey Brin is saying, in a new interview with the Guardian that lays out the tech visionary's growing fears about governments and corporations trying to control Web users in the 21st century. Despite winning battles in the United States against Internet-constraining legislation like SOPA and PIPA, Brin says there are "very powerful forces that have lined up against the open Internet on all sides and around the world." Which powerful forces? Iran and China's governments, trying to tamp down on anti-government discussion and activism, the entertainment industry and its crusade against pirating, and tech giants like Apple and Facebook looking to wall in and control information. Granted, Brin is criticizing some of his company's direct tech competitors. But when Google starts sounding like a rebel force in a growing evil empire, you have to wonder if a world war over Internet freedom is upon us.

Apple's New iPads Go On Sale Worldwide

If you're in line at the Apple store as you watch this, can you pick us up a new iPad? People around the world are beginning to boot up the tech giant's latest gadget today, be it at store locations or from their Fed Ex delivery person. The tablet can also be purchased at big box stores like Walmart and Best Buy. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak was second in line behind his wife at a Los Angeles mall. In Tokyo, 450 hopefuls waited patiently—some for nearly 40 hours. Analysts say that even with it's minor changes, the new tablet could soon put Apple's stock price over $700, maintaining the company's lead in the market. But not all those outside Apple stores today were happy customers. Protestors picketed stores in Washington, New York and San Francisco, calling on the company to improve working conditions in China, where they say manufacturing priorities don't include living wages and safe conditions for workers. If only there was an app for changing that.

Apple's OS 10.8: Mountain Lion Moves Users Closer to iOS

In the growing group of giant cats, Mountain Lion is Apple's newest addition to the pride. The tech company has announced that Mac users will likely have a new operating system to play with as soon as this summer: OS 10.8. So far, the new system promises a more seamless integration for oversharing; Twitter can now be accessed from more programs. It also dumps the 2002 "vintage" iChat for iMessage, which allows you to text people's iPhones from your computer, and is designed to put your desktop on your HDTV with the click of a mouse—as long as you have Apple TV, of course. There's new integration for the Chinese language as well—proving Apple knows it's largest potential growth market. But the biggest news of Mountain Lion is that it's a step ever closer to becoming indistinguishable from iOS, the operating system for Apple's mobile devices. The assembly of the company's product and OS Voltron continues!
