Unboxing the latest and greatest all-in-one Apple iMac 27", 3,06 GHz. I initially placed an order for an i5, but had to wait for the delivery due to quality issues. I gave up waiting and decided to go with the base model. 4GB (2 x 2 GB SO-DIMM) 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM 1 TB Serial ATA, 7200 rpm ATI Radeon HD 4670, 256MB GDDR3 So far, it is fast enough for my purpose. Most people have opted for the i5 or i7. Of course if I could afford it, I would also go for the fastest processor. I'm stoked about this new iMac nevertheless. Video clips were captured with Nikon D90 and 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens. The D90 is not very good in low lighting when it comes to shooting videos. This is the nicest Mac I've ever bought and I've bought nearly every model since the original 128K Mac! The setup is a breeze, just unwrap and plug it in. The screen is absolutely gorgeous and the speed is phenomenal! I love the new Magic Mouse, I replaced every computer in the house with one. I have a couple of nit picks with the standard out of the box package. First, the wireless keyboard has no numeric keypad. Apple should make a wireless keyboard with a number pad. The second is that it didn't come with a remote, not a biggie as I hardly every used them. In the unboxing video I did a transfer from an existing iMac 24 inch Core 2 Duo, using a Firewire cable. The iMac 24 is a marvelous machine still. I only wish it could hold more than 2 GB of RAM. Everything transferred works flawlessly. The first try at the Software Update hung up in the extraction process, so I had to forced quit and restart the update and controlled which packages updated first, leaving the firmware updates for last, it then went without a hitch. This beast packs a powerful punch to the previous iMac family, adding a complete Desktop i7 Processor and Desktop ATI 4850 Graphics Card, as well as the new monster 2560x1440 27" Display. I found a buyer for my XPS 730x who would pay $150 less than what I originally paid for (because I used a 25% off discount) and accepted his offer. I was waiting for this beast to arrive before I shipped the thing out. From there, I went to order the Mac Pro. I picked up the Quad Core 2.93 GHz version (not the Octo-core) Nehalem model with 6 gigs of RAM, 1 TB Hard Drive and the ATI Radeon 4870 Graphics Card. I received it October 1st and owned it for about two weeks until Apple suddenly released this monster i7 iMac. I knew there was going to be a mild design and clock speed update coming, but I was not aware they were going to pull the trigger with adding desktop components. I looked up the price and my jaw dropped. Literally almost IDENTICAL specifications as the Mac Pro which I paid around $3500 for. With this iMac though, I was paying over $1200 less as this was priced at $2250 (with education discount). I called up Apple asking if I could return my Mac Pro. They allowed me to return it, and THEY paid for the return shipping and didn't make me <b>...</b>

This machine has been a beast so far. It's running extremely well and has not given me any heat, software, or hardware issues. In fact, this is the BEST computer that I have ever used, hands down. I'm extremely glad I decided to go with this instead of the MacBook Pro, and I defiantly recommend this computers to everyone out there looking for a powerful machine that will do everything imaginable.
