From Ronnie's first show on CTV - The Canadian Television Network in September of 1975, featuring Dolly Parton and Ferlin Huskey, Ronnie brought in his co-stars from his world tours. Ronnie performed around the world on the same bill with Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, The Everly Brothers and many others. Ronnie also owned and played at "Ronnie Prophet's Carousel Club" on Nashville's Printer's Alley, where he often had many of the stars that were on his TV show come up and jam with him late nites in Nashville. His office on "MUSIC ROW" in Nashville was across the street from his best friend and mentor CHET ATKINS. The Beatles - The Sheik Of Araby (Decca) (2011 Remaster)

www.megaupload.com Download The Decca Audition Tapes Remastered By Me! For the 49th Anniversary of The Beatles doing an Audition to Decca, now Remastered. "The Sheik of Araby" is a song that was written by Harry B. Smith, Francis Wheeler and music by Ted Snyder in 1921. It was composed in response to the popularity of the Rudolph Valentino film The Sheik. In 1926 it received new lyrics written by Billy Rose and was retitled "That Night in Araby". It was a Tin Pan Alley hit, and was also adopted by early jazz bands, especially in New Orleans, making it a jazz standard. It was a well recognized part of popular culture, earning a mention in The Great Gatsby. In 1926, Fleischer Studios released a cartoon with this song, recorded in Phonofilm, as part of their Song Car-Tunes series, and a live action short with this title was filmed in Phonofilm in the UK, directed by Miles Mander. The "Araby" in the title refers to Arabia or the Arabian Peninsula. The song featured in the film Valentino (1977) with words of parody by Ken Russell, performed by Chris Ellis. A verse also appears in the novel The Great Gatsby (1925) by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The appeal to New Orleans bands may have lain in "Araby" sharing the same pronunciation as Arabi, LA, a town downriver from New Orleans' 9th Ward and a center for gambling just outside city limits until the early 1950s. The Beatles covered this song in 1962 at their unsuccessful Decca audition with George Harrison as the lead singer and Pete ...

Koos Greven - vocals, banjo Lielian Tan - drums Bert Brandsma - bass saxophone Michel Muller - trumpet Slidin' Selena - trombone "The Sheik of Araby" is a song that was written by Harry Smith, Francis Wheeler and music by Ted Snyder in 1921. It was composed in response to the popularity of the Rudolph Valentino film The Sheik. It was a Tin Pan Alley hit, and was also adopted by early jazz bands, especially in New Orleans, making it a jazz standard. It was a well recognized part of popular culture, for example mentioned in the book the The Great Gatsby. The "Araby" in the title refers to Arabia or the Arabian Peninsula. The town of Arabi, Louisiana, a small municipality in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, southeast of New Orleans, Louisiana, should be noted as some New Orleans jazz bands have a tradition of performing the number as if it refers to that community for humorous effect. [edit] Notable recordings Don Albert's band recorded the first version with the chant "With no pants on" between the lines of lyrics. This was and still is a popular bit of hokum with New Orleans bands, but got Albert's record generally banned from radio airplay. Fats Waller & His Rhythm in 1939 In Heaven Can Wait (1943 film) directed by Ernst Lubitsch, Don Ameche and Gene Tierney attend a musical stage production where The Sheik of Araby is performed. Harry James plays "Sheik of Araby" in 1972

Not only was Harry James the world's greatest trumpet player, but he was one of the great Dixieland players. This recording is from a 1972 album that Harry recorded while on a European tour. This is one of the few recordings that Harry ever recorded without his band. This arrangement of "Sheik of Araby" was done by Rob Turk, Harry's former lead trumpet player. Rob also arranged many charts in the HJ band book, including The Lonely Bull, Traces and Ciao. I heard Harry play this tune several times during the 70's, and in concert, this tune always turned into a barn burner!!
