FOODBUSKING: Food is the Music of life! I've soothed Neneh Cherry's sore throat with a peach, rushed on stage with a cup of Oolong tea for Kanye West and asked Jessie J to give me commi a hug, and here, I 'wow' Ariel Pink with my Chicken tea, or chicken fazool as he calls it! Im a firm believer that food and music are the way to break down social barriers and even the coolest of the cool will fall prey to good ol' tea and cake. Ive managed to get myself gigs cooking backstage at major festivals where I interview musicians. Then I melts them with me honest, home-cooked food, breaks down their icy barriers and gets um down to talk bout the nitty gritty. If I had a superpower this would be it. By the time Ive got me food in their mouths, they're putty in me hands. Check out me interviews on you tube and sees what you think. Ive called it 'Food Busking' and through it I aims to show people how easy cooking is. By using interviews with musicians as the vehicle, I believe I can interest those who wouldn't normally watch a cookery show or bother getting in the kitchen. "Food Busking is an attitude. Accessible, down-to-earth, fun and subversive. It's a performance and has an audience. Next I'm going to take food busking to Old Street in London to film it." Pink's obsession with new wave, glam rock, disco, and post-punk continues as usual, but the strange, surreal recording tricks crowding his earlier work aren't as prevalent. Though the songs are still great--really great, in fact--longtime fans may be a little disheartened by the overall lack of "weirdness." Many of these tracks are simply reworked versions of "classic" songs from the Haunted Graffiti discography, so Before Today may not be much of anything new for some; but the cleaner, more accessible approach will surely blow the minds of some first-timers.
