The United States Army Airborne School — widely known as Jump School — conducts the basic paratrooper (military parachutist) training for the United States armed forces. It is operated by the 1st Battalion (Airborne), 507th Infantry, United States Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia. The Airborne School conducts the Basic Airborne Course, which is open to soldiers of both genders from all branches of the US Army, its sister services, and allied military personnel. The purpose of the Basic Airborne Course is to qualify the volunteer (all students volunteer for this school) in the use of the parachute as a means of combat deployment and to develop leadership, self-confidence, and an aggressive spirit through mental and physical conditioning. The course is three weeks long and consists of "Ground Week", "Tower Week" and "Jump Week". Rigorous physical training (PT) is emphasized throughout the entire course. The initial entry PT test consists of the standard Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT). All age groups must pass this test using the 17-21 age group standards. The pullup requirement was lifted in October 2006.

Alyssa Gutierrez bravely defended her home and her life with her Mom's rifle. She was not going to end up, if she could help it, another victim of criminal violence. She first tried to hide from the criminal intruders, but when they discovered her, she ran quickly to a bedroom and retrieved her Mom's little pink single shot bolt action 22 caliber rifle to defend her home and life. "My heart kept pounding and pounding" said brave little Alyssa. After she loaded the rifle she checked the bathroom and the living room to make sure that they were clear of the thugs. She then went to her Mothers closet with her loaded rifle in hand to call 9-11. "I was planning, if they came right next to me, I would shoot them," said Alyssa. Luckily, for the slime ball intruders, they had already made their getaway out the back door of the house. But as bad luck would have it for the degenerate's, an off duty police officer who was driving by saw them jumping the fence and arrested them on the spot. So all ended well, the bottom dwellers were taken away thanks to the bravery of Alyssa Gutierrez. The reason this story caught my attention is because earlier this year I bought my then 10 year old niece this very same rifle, except in black. And then the rest of the family and me went up to the mountains where I taught her how to shot it. I hope that she never has to do what this 11 year old did in the video, but if she ever has to, she will be prepared. jbranstetter04

An impressive closing ceremony of two weeks long Pak-China Joint Military Exercise" Friendship-IV-2011 was held on Thursday. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and General Hou Shusen, Deputy Chief of General Staff of Chinese People's Liberation Army(PLA) attended the ceremony. In a press briefing on the occasion, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani said that Pak-China's relations were purely strategic and these were not against any other country and these relations would help ensure regional peace and stability. He said that China's security was dear to Pakistan and such joint exercise would further strengthen the relations between the two countries that were facing common threat of terrorism. He said Pakistan considered China as important in regional stability and it would continue cooperate China countering ETIM. He said Pakistan had not training programmes with China alone but it had such courses with around 50 countries, across the world. He said the joint exercise would enhance the professional skills and operational preparedness of the both armies and developed mutual understanding of each other's skills and procedures. North Hollywood shootout was an armed confrontation between two heavily bank robbers (Larry Eugene Phillips, Jr. and Emil Dechebal Matasareanu) with armer piercing rounds and patrol and SWAT officers of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) on February 28, 1997, at a Bank Of America teler-office.
