It would seem that, by the time the commentary track was dubbed, peace talks were taking place, and there was a brief cessation in the war.] The film was shot by a camera team who entered the Kurdish occupied area of Northern Iraq through Persia (Iran), the only available entry point. This mountainous area is unofficially known as Kurdistan, after the Kurdish tribesmen who've lived there since Biblical times. For the past five years Kurdistan has been pinning down two thirds of the Iraq military in a war of independence. The only outside help they have had is unofficial - from Persia. The report shows a petrol dump near the border which is for the use of vehicles taking supplies to the rebels. Russia used to aid Kurdistan as a way of gaining access to the Middle East oilfields, but the shifting balance of power has meant that Russia has sought other, more powerful influences in the region. There is footage from the team's car driving through the ill-defined border. Persia allows Kurds unrestricted access to the last outpost in Persia before the frontier, Khanem, where they can buy supplies. The government turns a blind eye to this activity, partly to soothe its own Kurdish minority, and partly because its relations with Iraq are strained. The British army in Northern Ireland started to use helicopters in the mid-1970's, because ambushes and snipers made ground patrols and road transport a perilous undertaking. The Provisional Irish Republican Army (pIRA) realised that it would be devastating for British morale if they could bring down a helicopter and the organisation went shopping for surface-to-air missiles, or SAM's. Initially the Provisional Irish Republican Army (pIRA) tried to buy SAM-missiles from Central American arms dealers in the United States of America. This plan however was frustrated by the PIRA Unit, a special FBI-unit, with the arrest of Gabriel Megahey in June 1982. In the course of the 1980's however the relation between the Provisional Irish Republican Army (pIRA) and Libya's head of state Colonel Ghadaffi, the so-called Green-Green Alliance, started to pay off and rumours that the Provisional Irish Republican Army (pIRA) had acquired SAM-missiles started to buzz around. Russian made SAM-missiles, especially the SA 7, also known as Grail, shoulder-fired heat seeking missiles, which are alleged to have been bought by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (pIRA), are well known and used by several paramilitary organisations over the world. 'US army leave ASAP to stop civilian deaths in Afghanistan'
In northern Afghanistan, over a thousand people have joined a protest to demand foreign troops get out of the country. The rally in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif was sparked by a NATO raid on a market in which two local security guards were killed. The demonstrators insist the two posed no threat, but the Alliance says they were shot after refusing to put down their weapons. It has added to the growing anger over the number of civilian deaths in the country. Just on Friday, NATO accepted blame for accidentally killing 6 civilians in eastern Afghanistan. RT discusses the issue with Lizette Potgieter, a journalist in Kabul.

I caught this train going westbound from Oreapolis, Nebraska to Ashland, Nebraska where it went through the wye to take it northbound. It had to slow way down to go through the wye and I was able to take a few still shots as it started to head north. I shot the video at Yutan, Nebraska as it was leaving town. I didn't follow it any further, so I don't know if it interchanged in Fremont, Nebraska or continued north to Sioux City, Iowa. I'm not a military buff, so I don't know what type of tanks they are. Any thoughts?

He was born on 1 Apr 1967. He was enlisted in the Army on 10 December 1984. He was serving in Northern Light Infantry Regiment when skirmishes broke out in Kargil in 1999. Havildar Lalak Jan of the Northern Light Infantry Regiment fought from the forefront to thwart heavy Indian attacks. He volunteered himself to be deployed on the front positions located at the jagged peak in May 1999. Havildar Lalak Jan repulsed back many aggressive ventures by the enemy and imposed colossal losses on them. On 7 July 1999, Havildar Lalak Jan sustained serious injuries as enemies pounded the area with heavy mortar shells. But despite being injured, he retained his position and frustrated the Indian assault. Due to severe injuries he embraced martyrdom.

US Troops on US Streets In a barely noticed development, a US Army unit is now training for domestic operations under the control of US Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command. An initial news report in the Army Times newspaper last month noted that in addition to emergency response the force may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control. The Red Army Is the Strongest - The Red Army Choir Stalingrad 07 - Operation Uranus: The Offensive Begins In autumn the Soviet generals Aleksandr Vasilyevskiy and Georgy Zhukov, responsible for strategic planning in the Stalingrad area, concentrated massive Soviet forces in the steppes to the north and south of the city. The German northern flank was particularly vulnerable, since it was defended by Italian, Hungarian, and Romanian units that suffered from inferior training, equipment, and morale when compared with their German counterparts. The operation was code-named "Uranus" and launched in conjunction with Operation Mars, which was directed at Army Group Center. Zhukov and Vasilyevskiy were awarded the "Hero of the Soviet Union" for their generalship. On November 19, the Red Army unleashed Uranus. The attacking Soviet units under the command of Gen. Nikolay Vatutin consisted of three complete armies, the 1st Guards Army, 5th Tank Army, and 21st Army, including a total of 18 infantry divisions, eight tank brigades, two motorized brigades, six cavalry divisions and one anti-tank brigade. The Ulster Troubles (Part 15 of 24)
The Troubles consisted of about 30 years of repeated acts of intense violence between elements of Northern Ireland's Nationalist community (principally Roman Catholic) and Unionist community (principally Protestant). The conflict was caused by the disputed status of Northern Ireland within the United Kingdom, and the alleged domination of the minority nationalist community, and discrimination against, by the unionist majority. The violence was characterised by the armed campaigns of paramilitary groups. Most notable of these was the Provisional IRA campaign 1969--1997 which was aimed at the end of British rule in Northern Ireland and the creation of a new all-Ireland Irish Republic. In response to this campaign and the perceived erosion of the British character and unionist domination of Northern Ireland, loyalist paramilitaries such as the UVF and UDA launched their own campaigns against the nationalist population. The state security forces - the British Army and the police (the Royal Ulster Constabulary) - were also involved in the violence. The British government point of view is that its forces were neutral in the conflict and trying to uphold law and order in the North. Irish republicans, however, regarded the state forces as "combatants" in the conflict and point to evidence of repeated collusion between the state forces and the loyalists as proof of this.
