Ari Atoll - Maldives Islands

Ari Atoll is one of natural atolls of the Maldives. It is one of the biggest atolls and is located in the west of the archipelago. The almost rectangular alignment spreads the islands over an area of about 89x30 kilometres. It has been divided in two sections for administrative purposes, Northern Ari Atoll and Southern Ari Atoll consisting of 105 islands. Ari Atoll is part of the zone designated for tourist development in the Maldives. It is roughly a 30 minute seaplane flight away from the Capital Malé. There are more than 20 islands in the Atoll designated for tourist resorts. Each island resort is self-contained with accommodation and recreational facilities such as tennis court. Scuba diving is the most popular tourist activity in the Maldives. The diving in Ari Atoll is extensive and is often defined by location within the atoll, either North or South. The main tourist resorts were Ari Beach, Halaveli, Maayyafushi, Twin Islands Resort, Dhoni Mighilli and Twin Island Resort. ( source Wikipedia )

Atoll Memory

Ant Atoll, in Micronesia, where I spent memorable weekends as a child is a canoe ride offshore of the verdant island of Pohnpei, where we lived in the late 1940's. I remember the vast turquoise lagoon surrounded by the coral atoll with brilliant, full moon nights, on the beach sands in warm and balmy air.

The Atoll, Fort Collins, Colorado, performs Black Whistle in the winter of 2003. Video taken from the atoll DVD. The Atoll is a World Groove band from Fort Collins, Colorado lead by Crow Tribal member Cary Morin. The Atoll has traveled the US performing at college campuses, festivals, and clubs for much of the past fifteen years. The Atoll has recorded 4 CDs, Dream Marquee in 1993, Unity in 1995, and World Groove in 1997, and most recently Alias, released in 2002. The band recorded a DVD in 2003. The band has been featured to satellite TV subscribers in Tokyo, Japan and has received a number of awards in Colorado. The band co-wrote and performed a stage production entitled Turtle Island in 2000 and 2001. The production and its cast of 50 won the hearts of 1000's of audience members and will soon be available for bookings in a larger region. The music of the Atoll has been described as a free form mix of rock, reggae and other world rhythms. Morin's lyrics are a product of his Native American culture and his diverse musical upbringing. His songs have been featured in soundtracks and stage productions as well as with the Atoll. The band is comfortable sharing the stage with national acts; jam bands, reggae bands and Hip Hop performers from around the nation. The rhythms of drummers Crip Erickson and Pete Knudson have long been a show-stopping favorite. Kaafu Atoll - Maldives Islands

Kaafu Atoll is an administrative division of the Maldives. It consists of Kaashidhoo Island, Gahaafaru Atoll, and Malé Atoll (which includes the North Malé Atoll and the South Malé Atoll). It also has a number of uninhabited islands. Malé, capital of the Maldives is naturally located within the North Malé Atoll, but it is not part of the Kaafu administrative division. NOTE: Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, Noonu, Raa, Baa, Kaafu, etc. are code letters assigned to the present administrative divisions of the Maldives. They are not the proper names of the natural atolls that make up these divisions. Some atolls are divided into two administrative divisions while other divisions are made up of two or more natural atolls. The order followed by the code letters is from North to South, beginning with the first letters of the Thaana alphabet used in Dhivehi. These code letters are not accurate from the geographical and cultural point of view. However, they have become popular among tourists and foreigners in the Maldives who find them easier to pronounce than the true atoll names in Dhivehi, (save a few exceptions, like Ari Atoll) ( source Wikipedia )

Johnston Island / Atoll

This is a video I made from some video I took and some photos I had from when I was stationed there in 1994 with the USACAP MP Unit. Johnston Island is a low sand and coral island, 717 miles West-South-West of Honolulu. It is roughly a mile and a half long by a half mile wide. Johnston Island is part of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument, proclaimed by US President George W. Bush on January 6, 2009. Johnston Atoll was accidentally discovered on September 2, 1796 by Captain Joseph Pierpont of the American Brig Sally. He published a notice of his ship's grounding in several American newspapers in 1797, giving an accurate position and noting the two original islands (Johnston and Sand) and the incomplete marginal reef. No traces or records of any earlier visitations or occupations by Polynesians or Europeans during their voyages of discovery exist. Lt. William Smith of HMS Cornwallis named the larger island for his ship's captain, Charles J. Johnston, after sighting it briefly on Decernber 14, 1807.

Delta Airlines Emergency landing at Midway atoll

A Delta Air Lines Boeing 747 diverted to the Pacific Ocean's remote Midway Atoll last week. That came after a "sudden and very serious windscreen crack ... appeared before the pilots while it was flying between Honolulu and Osaka," reports Ben Sandilands in his Plane Talking blog. After the windshield cracked, the Delta crew opted to divert to the 7900-foot runway at Henderson Field on Midway's Sand Island. The Aviation Herald, which focuses on airline safety-related incidents, notes the aircraft then "hit two birds while on approach to Henderson Airfield causing damage to a flap (but) continued for a safe landing about one hour after the windshield cracked." The flight -- Delta Flight 277 -- was en route from Honolulu to Osaka, Japan, at the time of the incident. It landed at Midway around 5:40 pm local time, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. "We don't usually land planes during the daylight hours when we have nesting albatross on the ground because of bird strike hazards," Sue Schulmeister of the US Fish and Wildlife Service says to Hawaii's KITV-TV. "But we didn't have a choice in this case because they needed to land because of their cracked windshield." "The pilots were -- needless to say -- thrilled that Midway was here that they could land this aircraft," Schulmeister adds to Hawaii's KHON 2 TV. The Fish and Wildlife Service administers the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge. HawaiiNewsNow.com says passengers on Flight 277 were "kept ... on board until <b>...</b>

Happy New Year to all my subscribers! This addresses a response to my video "Climate Change -- Hurricanes, atolls and corals," which, on investigation, revealed a major error by a news agency and a TV network. The moral of the story is that sticking the label "Global Warming" onto anything that moves is not going to help public understanding of climate science. Runescape chinchompa training guide - Ape atoll (better then chaos tunnels, average 210k/hr)

---READ FIRST PART OF VID/DESCRIPTION IF YOU THINK CHAOS TUNNELS ARE BETTER!---- Yes, I'm at Ape Atoll and people think Chaos Tunnels are better. I've done some tests and found out that Chaos tunnels cost THE SAME AMOUNT or MORE then ape atoll, and is much slower. Ape atoll, you can continuously attack 9 skeles at the same time. Chaos tunnels, you constantly have to re-align, making it slower. Ape atoll, no money back, but you are getting more exp per chin thrown. Chaos tunnels, money back, but not as much exp per chin thrown. These two facts balance each other out as far as GP spent per EXP gained. anyways, this is the way I do it. I get 216k ranged exp per 1k chins, and throw about 950 chins per hour. so, that is about 200k per hour. You may be able to do it faster, and I have even gone faster. cash/exp rates for ape atoll, this trip, level 97, was 4.007 gp/exp cash/exp rates for the chaos tunnels, tested at level 95, was 4.300 gp/exp this means you spend more at chaos tunnels. Although if you take away the level difference (to 95), ape atoll is 4.300 gp/exp, .0002 better then chaos tunnels First song: "Without You" by Breaking Benjamin Second song: "It's All Over" by Three Days Grace Disclaimers: The audio used in this video was for the sake of entertainment ONLY. consider this free advertisement. Remembering Johnston Island / Atoll Revisited
