Aurore // Please Watch It // STOP ABUSE CHILD NOWWW

The year is 1909. In the village of Sainte-Philomène de Fortierville, Marie-Anne Caron, wife to Télésphore Gagnon, gives birth to their second daughter, Aurore. The child grows up in a loving and happy family, but in 1918 her mother dies of tuberculosis. Shortly after, Télésphore Gagnon decides to remarry, having fallen under the spell of his beautiful cousin, Marie-Anne Houde. Marie-Anne is not the devoted stepmother everyone takes her to be, however. Following the death of Aurore, a coroner's inquest reveals that the young girl had died of blood poisoning, brought on by the horrific abuse she suffered at the hands of her stepmother. The sensational trial which followed these revelations had a profound and lasting impact on Québec society. Aurore depicts an almost-forgotten period and social milieu of Québec's history, finally giving voice to those who, at the time, knew what was going on but preferred to remain silent. Aurore

Aurore Gagnon (May 31, 1909 - February 12, 1920), was a victim of child abuse in the town of Fortierville, Quebec. She died of exhaustion and blood poisoning from some 52 wounds inflicted by her stepmother, Marie-Anne Houde, and her father, Télesphore Gagnon. The story of l'enfant martyre received great attention in the media and Aurore became an icon of Quebec sociological and popular culture. Aurore Gagnon was the second of four children of Marie-Anne Caron and Télesphore Gagnon, a farmer. After Marie-Anne Caron was hospitalized with tuberculosis in 1916, Telesphore's cousin's widow Marie-Anne Houde and her six children moved in with Télesphore Gagnon. On November 6, 1917, Aurore's younger brother Joseph Gagnon died at the age of two under mysterious circumstances. A week after the death of his wife in 1918, Télesphore Gagnon married Marie-Anne Houde. Although villagers were suspicious when two of her children subsequently died, there was no investigation. Their abuse of Aurore escalated (Télesphore beat her with an axe handle). In September 1919, the ten-year-old Aurore was hospitalized for more than a month at the "Hôtel-Dieu de Québec" due to a severe leg infection caused by a beating. Released back into her parents' care, Aurore was beaten by Marie-Anne Houde until her death in 1920. The cause of death was said to be poison, not knowing if her death was because of infected wounds or if Aurore was poisoned to death. Marie-Anne Houde was sentenced to be hanged for ...

Barbara Bonney: "Aurore" by Gabriel Fauré

Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) "Aurore", op. 39, n°. 1 (text: Armand Silvestre, 1837-1901) Barbara Bonney, soprano. Warren Jones, piano. April 6, 1994.

The Story Of Aurore Gagnon (Warning - Graphic Dramatizations)

Aurore Gagnon Aurore came into our world on May 31, 1909 in Quebec to her parents Marie Ann Caron and Télesphore Gagnon. Aurore was one of four children. In 1916 Marie Ann became ill with tuberculosis & was hospitalized. Shortly after his wife's hospitalization, Télesphore invited Marie Anne Houde & her six children to live with him. On November 6, 1917 Aurore's younger brother Joseph flew away at just two years old from suspicious circumstances. Before long another on of Aurore's younger sibling also flew away under suspicious circumstances. Marie Ann Caron died in 1918. A week later Télesphore married Marie Anne Houde. Abuse inflicted towards Aurore escalated until she was hospitalized with a severe leg infection caused by a beating with a axe handle. After a month in hospital Aurore was sent home with her father and step-mother. Countless people saw or heard about Aurore & knew of the abuse she endured. A neighbour heard Marie Anne say "I wish little Aurore would die without anyone knowing about it" A family member who saw Aurore said she "was in a pitiful state." & Marie Anne told her "I will show you how well she washes the dishes when I beat her." "The first time, I saw the accused beat Aurore with a piece of wood, a stick of wood that she had taken from the woodbox... ...The second time, she beat her with a switch. The accused said to me, 'She is putting her fingers on her bottom to have them broken.'" "the accused again began to beat Aurore with pieces of wood ...

The 90th Year Angelversary of Aurore Gagnon

Aurore Gagnon was born on May 31st the second of four children to Marie-Anne Caron and Télesphore Gagnon in Quebec Canada. Her mum was hospitalized with Tuberculosis (severe lung infection) in 1916 and passed away in 1918. Aurore's father Télesphore married Marie-Anne Houde a week after Caron's death and this is when Aurore's abuse story began. Her step-mum, Marie-Anne Houde, was looked to be a suspicious person in the town because two of her children were dead for unknown circumstances but no investigation was held. Houde began beating Aurore violently over senseless things (giving Aurore a total of around 52 wounds before her death). Aurore was hospitalized for a month in September of 1919 due to a severe leg wound infection likely caused by a beating but again, her parents were not questioned. Her father beat her with an axe, and her step-mum burnt Aurore's tiny body several times. Aurore was finally found with her eldest sister surrounding her dead body on the dark day of February 12th of 1920, she was only ten years old. Her death was marked as exhaustion, blood poisoning and some 52 wounds inflicted by another human being (her step-mum, Houde). Marie-Anne Houde was sentenced to hanging but the charges were later dropped because of "deterioration of health" and she later died of breast and brain cancer. Aurore's father, Télesphore, was jailed and then released some years later for "good behaviour" or failing health. Two films were made in memory and honour of this ...

Aurore Gagnon {Cant Cry Hard Enough} [1909-1920]

This is a true story. Some extremely SICK people did this to Aurore, did it all to an innocent little girl. For that, I hope the step mother and the father of Aurore, ROTT IN THE DIRT! They cannot expect us to forgive them for this, they tortured a little girl, burnt her with hot irons, beat her with axe handles and so much more. They beat Aurore, beat her harder and harder and harder until Aurore couldn't scream anymore. They stole this little girl's life away. They stole her freedom and her beauty. For that, I call them pure monsters! Aurore Gagnon was the second of four children of Marie-Anne Caron and Télesphore Gagnon. Tell Me Why - Aurore & Sylvia- STOP Child Abuse NOW

COMMENT IT & PLEASE READ BELOW: This issue i feel strongly about and recently watched Aurore and An American Crime. I felt the lyrics of this song went really well with the clips i used and highlighted the horrors of child abuse and how it not only affects those who are being hurt but the others who have to watch it being done in this case Aurore and Sylvia's Sisters and towards the end the other children who realise what they have done. Also this was strong for me as both stories are true stories! so if you are being abused or you know that a friend or sibling are tell someone or send an anonymous message to the police you can do that now! dont be afraid otherwise it might be too late. I have made three videos this being my fourth and this is by far the most important to me and i worked very hard on it and think it may be on of the best i have done in terms of fitting with the song. Please let me know what you think i really believe this video is my most powerful! So if you watch this then please comment and let me know. (Pierre-Louis Daquin) "If I couldn't be Rameau, there's no one I'd rather be than Mondonville" (Pierre-Louis Daquin) L'ouverture "pleine de fracas" a déconcerté en son temps par son "trop de bizarrerie".
