His acting break came in 1950 when director John Ford gave him a starring part in Wagon Master.

But it's also great to see ( however briefly) such great names from the past...Jerome,Gardener,Antao, and the marvellous Canadian double Olympic champion Percy Williams. Sadly,try as I may,there appears to be no footage of Mike Agostini's 100yard run from 1954,and,more surprisingly,Quarrie's first gold in Edinburgh in 1970.Pretty sure the BBC will have that shoved in a dusty old archive somewhere,but it ain't on the internet!Photos will therefore have to suffice.
