This is the first part of a Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance speed run on easy difficulty. The first part is of this lenght because I need to manipulate some luck to get a recall potion out of the secret chest right next to the save spot. Saves a lot of time. Why on easy? This way I can proceed the fastest but still being able to kill the bosses without taking too long with a pathetically under-leveled character. Archer is chosen for Repulsion and Shock Arrows.

It's probably been more than a decade since I last played more than the first few hours of BG1, and I had forgotten just how light-hearted and downright goofy the game can be. The dialogue constantly breaks the fourth wall in quite startling ways; such as NPCs complaining about them being "clicked" on, Jaheira's famous "omnipresent authority figure" line and much, much more along the same lines. Indeed, a lot of quirky minor characters seem to have been included solely for the fun of it - fan favorite Minsc being only the most prominent and blatantly bizarre of these additions. All of this fits rather well (in a decidedly self-referential way) with the typical pastoral fantasy settings and low-level adventuring of the actual gameplay, and as previously mentioned it's a much livelier experience overall than the somber epicness of BG1's slightly overrated sequel. The battle in this particular video turned out to be quite tense, since a group of randomly encountered gnolls emerged seemingly out of nowhere and messed with my methodical approach, which quickly degenerated into a much more desperate attempt to simply get out alive. It is not speedrun, so it's quite long, but i tried to make things time effective. Run time is: 45 min. Done in 8 segments. *RUN RULES* - no cheating - no major bug abusing - playing solo with bard - hardest difficulty setting *** *SEGMENT 1 COMMENTS:* About stats: Dex and Con: They improve my survavibility and help to survive throught tough encounters. It's important to note that maximal condition for non-fighting class (which bard is) is 16. Strength: I need strenght only for carrying stuff and loot. Everything above 10 would suffice. Int, Wis and Cha: I don't need these stats at all. This segment is basically about two things: 1) Shopping 2) Going to Nashkel mines ASAP. To do shopping I need some gold, and because I don't use any bugs or cheats, the most effective way to earn early money is grabing "Ring of Sorcery" from "Helping Hand". I exit this area to the east (I need map marker to Peldvale in segment 2). The best shop around is of course High Hedge. After I almost get killed by two skeletons, I finally managed to buy following items: 40 Acid Arrows - Best arrows possible in terms of damage, I used them throughout all early game as my basic damage source. Protection from undead - I need it in segments 2, where I have to sneak past three ghasts to grab Wand of Monster Summoning. Identify - I need to identify Wand of Frost which I need to kill Mulahey in segment 2. 3x Invisibility - To sneak throught tough locations (Nashkel mines, Bandit camp, Cloackwood mines). 3x <b>...</b>

In Baldur's Gate 2 there is a easy way to make all the money you need nearly as soon as you get out of the dungeon. What I do is: 1: Have a character that can steal in your party. 2: Head to the sewers, in the temple district 3: Have some valuable stuff to sell, (armor/weapons and wands work well). If you dont have this stuff just kill the party northwest. It can be a tough fight if your just out of the dungeon; so just lame kill them with cloudkill like i did :P 4. Head to the vender south in the sewers, buy two pots of Thief Mastery and two pots of potion of Perception. This should ensure 100% thief success. 5. Sell your shit, and then steal it back. Repeat until you have all the 'phat loot' you need.
