Comme d'hab, j'ai tout repiqué d'oreille mais j'ai pas toujours été 100% fidèle à la ligne de basse alors j'ai placé quelques petites improvisations aussi, même si c'est pas toujours concluant, haha ^^ Sinon comme pour Anna Molly, j'ai utilisé ma nouvelle basse, la FleaBass upgradée, sauf que j'ai remis le micro d'origine, mais j'y ai foutu un préamp EMG BTC Control que j'avais commandé au même temps que la basse. Donc c'est plus le micro EMG 35DC qu'est sur la basse ! J'espère que ça va vous plaire! Bon visionnage et bonne écoute ;) --------------------------------------- Hey! As usual I learned it by ear and I didn't follow the original bass track all the time, so I did some improvisations too, unfortunately it doesn't sound always tight and good, haha ^^ Otherwise I used my new bass, a FleaBass but I took off the EMG pickup and put an EMG preamp (BTC Control) and the original pickup again! The Bass Master himself teaches a little of his playing technique in this "fair use" excerpt from a promo vid for his latest album (you can buy the full video at nowplayit.com). I think it's interesting because of the closeups showing his fingering style. Also interesting I think is even though it's "very simple" root notes, he still slips in little flourishes to give it some shape, like at 00:51 where he goes C-"F"-D (instead of straight CD), and how he slides down from FE at 01:07 keeping the string open instead of muffled like the rest. The most interesting part though I think is his discussion at 02:27 of how he was "tempted" to put in "fiddly bits" at the one part -- jumping up an octave -- and why you might do that if you're feeling "adventurous." I guess that's what musicianship is all about, when to do things like that and when to show restraint (he didn't do it in the final mix).

Alors imaginez ce que ça peut donner avec un bon ampli et un bon EQ :P J'ai changé le micro pour un EMG 35DC, donc j'ai fais des soundclips avant/après. ------------------------------------ Hey! I made some soundclips with my new FleaBass Model 32. I recorded it with the bass plugged directly in the computer, so I'm not using any amp or effects. Imagine how cool it would sound with a nice EQ and amp behind it ^^ Otherwise I changed the pickup for an EMG 35DC, so I did each groove 2 times.

Here are two short extracts of an exceptional record of Russian choral work (which includes anonymous ancient liturgical chant, popular folk songs, and music by well known Russian choral composers, such as Tchesnokov and Gretchaninov), introducing some of the lowest voices in the world. The two singers here are Vladimir Pasuikov and, with an even lower voice, Yuri Wichniakov, one of the most famous Basso Profondo, who are unique to Russian singing. Their vocal range is at least one octave below the normal bass range (think Paul Robeson). In the first extract the bass hits the low Ab1; in the second the bass hits a G1. Not only do they possess the lowest notes of any choral singer, but the soloists have such full voices that the effect is immediately striking. Enjoy those exceptional samples of the magnificent Russian choral art!

Few days ago I started thinking about how I could re-purpose the keyboard of the dismantled piano I keep in the garden, so I thought to build a new instrument by combining it with some other parts I had laying around. I ended up with this mechanical hybrid thing I thought to call "Bassoforte" (bass + pianoforte). The neck is from a broken electric bass, as a bridge I used a cabinet handle, the pickups are from a guitar, and the part at the top where the strings are attached is a chimney cap, which works as resonator as well as percussive sound. The track I created is a tribute to my Dad who is a big fan of Western comic books and "spaghetti western" films, and because of him I am too. I hope you'll like it!
