Momento de Reflexão PROCURAR DEUS NA ORAÇÃO Irmãos, Irmãs, quantas vezes, nas nossas orações, em vez de procurarmos a Deus, deixamos correr a nossa fantasia e imaginação atrás dos nossos interesses materiais. O verdadeiro caminho da oração é só este: Esquecer-nos das preocupações e cuidados terrenos, e esconder-nos no pequeno céu da nossa alma para nos pôr em íntimo contacto com Deus. 1 - «Tu porém, quando orares, entra no teu quarto e, fechada a porta, em segredo ora a teu Pai» (Mt. 6, 6). A solidão exterior, o retirar-se materialmente do ruído, das ocupações e preocupações desta vida, é um grande meio, indispensável até certo ponto, para uma vida interior séria. Toda a regra de vida religiosa, mesmo a de um Instituto Secular, prescreve determinadas horas de oração, durante as quais devemos suprimir decididamente qualquer ocupação e retirarmo-nos para a solidão a fim de retemperar o espírito num contacto mais directo e mais intenso com Deus. Sem estes «compassos de espera», é ilusão pretender viver, não só uma vida séria, mas até uma vida interior mais elementar. Deve suspender-se por conseguinte, nesses tempos, qualquer actividade por importante e urgente que seja, para se concentrarem as forças na actividade suprema da oração. Depois saímos delas satisfeitos por ter rezado "todas as nossas orações". Nessa altura consideramo-nos almas piedosas e de oração! Será mesmo assim? Teremos mesmo "rezado"? Rezemos: Senhor, aproximo-me de Vós, para Vos pedir o verdadeiro espírito de oração. Em que consiste a oração? 1- A oração consiste essencialmente num contacto íntimo com Deus, em que a alma procura a sua presença para se entreter amigável e afectuosamente com Deus. Pois é o filho que deseja entreter-se com o seu Pai, e é o amigo que deseja entreter-se com o Amigo. A oração, em si mesma, é uma coisa totalmente íntima e interior: «Para mim -- dizia Santa Teresa do Menino Jesus -- a oração é um movimento do coração, é um simples olhar para o céu, é um grito de reconhecimento e de amor, tanto no meio da prova como no meio da alegria » Para mim, é neste sentido que desejo entender a tradicional definição de oração «elevatio mentis ad Deum», elevação do espírito para Deus; e não só do espírito, mas também, e sobretudo do coração. "Bem-aventurados os misericordiosos, porque alcançarão misericórdia. Dulcíssima é esta palavra «misericórdia», irmãos caríssimos; mas se é tão doce o nome, quanto mais não o será a própria realidade? Todos os homens querem misericórdia, mas infelizmente nem todos procedem de modo a merecê-la. Todos a desejam receber, mas poucos a querem praticar. Ó homem, com que coragem ousas pedir o que recusas dar aos outros? Quem deseja alcançar misericórdia no céu, deve praticá-la neste mundo. Por conseguinte, irmãos caríssimos, já que todos desejamos misericórdia, façamos dela a nossa advogada neste mundo para que no outro ela nos liberte.
