Berkley Springs (David Essig, arr. by Don Ross)

POSTED WITH PERMISSION OF DON ROSS. Recorded at Trinity United Church in Cannington (Ontario, Canada) on Saturday, September 15, 2001. Tuning: FACFCF David Essig's comments on this tune: "I wrote the piece to honour the memory of my mother, Doris Hinkins, who came from the small town of Berkley Springs, West Virginia. I originally wrote it in DADGAD and recorded it that way on the first album I issued as a CD in 1988: Morning Calm. That's where Don Ross first encountered it I believe. He may have also heard me play it live, since we used to do some gigs together back in Ontario and at some Canadian festivals. Don transposed the piece into F tuning which enables him to play some interesting chord inversions. He also added a chord to the piece that's not in the original, but which I've now incorporated into my version as a tribute back to Don." See tommyemmanuel.com for the full post

On April 7, 2012, The Used stopped by FYE in Berkley, Mich. to play the last of their four select acoustic sets and participate in a signing for their fans. I got to speak with Bert McCracken and Quinn Allman on behalf of fuckyourscenes.com about their new album "Vulnerable," the state of the current music industry and what they would like to tell the fans that can't understand why they don't sound the same as when they began. The band also performed an unreleased track called "Surrender," which can be heard in the video above.

Art and Animation: Noah Berkley Music and Sound: Arthur Inasi AKA M-Cue This piece took a long time to make but it was worth it. Noah and myself have toiled on this bad-boy for more than 2 years, juggling our crazy schedules, back burner-ing it, coming back, making tweaks, adding things, cutting things, strangling each other, dreaming about strangling each other, waking up with sore necks, and finally releasing it to the world. We are really proud of this video, and we hope you enjoy it thoroughly. Tell your friends about it! We'd really appreciate it. "Time Boxing" available at m-cue.bandcamp.com Go buy it!

Nunzio Rosselli "Europa"

Nunzio Rosselli is a guitarist and composer based in Central Massachusetts. An alumnus of Berklee College of Music with over 30 years experience. His eclectic solo guitar compositions and improvisational playing style stem from a diverse career that began as a drummer at age 11. In his mid teens his interest in musical composition lead him to buy his first guitar. A $13 acoustic that he purchased at a Bradlees department store. Although he gained some proficiency on the guitar, it remained a secondary instrument. Mostly used as a tool for composing and arranging. In 1995, Nunzio shifted his focus from the drums to the guitar. Since then he has devoted all his musical energy to playing the guitar exclusively as a solo instrument.

His quest? to make it to the land of berkleeah... Our adventure begins in LA, where said boy faces the dragons... in their den... being all dragony and what not... anyway, so the only thing he has to face them is the sword of six strings, and a sonic boom called his voice! playing with all his heart and might, putting both weapons together to form the "MEGA ULTRA AWESOME TUNE THIINGY!" and so he sings a song with the power to bring nations to tears of joy and depression... AT THE SAME TIIIIIIME! however, the dragons (since they are all dragony and not human, don't react the same as humans... duh) counter with the common cold! in the end, the boy survivied the fight, and boy what a fight it was! what will be the outcome!? will our hero vanquish the dragons and reach the holy town of berkleeah?! find out sometime in march :D tii hii

There is a subtitled version available at Shenmue Dojo but I chose this cause of the sound quality. Here is a translation of the dialogue in sequence from start to end: (Lan Di)- "Give me the mirror" (Lan Di)- "It ends here" (Iwao Hazuki)- "Keep those you love close to you" You can download more videos/music from Shenmue Dojo. www.shenmuedojo.net/projectberkley.shtml

Berkley Springs (David Essig, arr. by Don Ross)

Don Ross's arrangement of this tune composed by David Essig. It reminds to "sheebag and Sheemore" (or something like that) but it has a nice groovy switch at the third section. Another thing is to play it well... but its an honnest try, believe me! I hope you enjoy. Btw, the tuning is , from low to high: FACFCF (!) And its "BerklEy Springs" not "Birkly"-Typical me....sorry for that. PS This video is dedicated to my sister Bernadette, who has her 50th birthday the 24th of this month! Gelukkige verjaardag, Baartje!!! MESSAGE FROM DAVID ESSIG: Greetings from Canada - this is David Essig checking in.
