The video for The Rev. Peytons Big Damn Bands new song Clap Your Hands was shot in one day in a barn in Indiana. All of the dancers, artists, freaks, weirdos, cowboys, kids, donkeys, bunko steerers, chickens, and regular folks, who are all Hoosiers, all volunteered their time and talent because they believed in the song and the band. The video was directed/produced by the acclaimed music video producer Kevin Custer (Lil Wayne, Soldja Boy, Flogging Molly) who remarked the day of the shoot, it would have cost a fortune to get all of these props back in NYC. To which The Rev. Peyton replied, These arent props they are just crap you find in a barn! Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band is a big ol' slice of downhome. Their latest album, The Wages, is busting at the seams with tales of life, love, and struggle in the American midwest. The Big Damn Band proudly pays tribute to their home state of Indiana with references to places such as the Fort Wayne Zoo and Lick Creek Road. The song, "Everything's Raising", is an anthem of the American worker, and a commentary on the harsh economic times be-setting their home state of Indiana. Somehow, they were able to take this bleak situation and turn it into a knee-slapping, foot-stomping, big-grin of a time.

A couple of years ago, The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band dropped by the Kansas City Academy to play for the kids and teach a bit about the history of the blues, and the particularly "country" or "rural" blues. This clip features my personal favorite "Plainfield Blues", another song and a demonstration of the Rev's playing style. If you don't have time to watch the full clip, go to around 6 minutes to see the Rev really start to cook. I uploaded this at 640 x 480, so you can play this one with &fmt=18 appended to it. Useful if you want to play it full screen to try to cop the Rev's finger-picking style.
